The Indian woman who went to Korea and became the Queen – the Korea-Indian connection[1]

Prof Byung Mo Kim

The queen of Korea’s biggest dynasty Hoh was the daughter of Ayodhya[1] (January 2010): Indian express, in January 2010, it carried the following news: “A Professor Emeritus of Hanyang University and national archaeologist from Korea, Prof Byung Mo Kim shares a ‘genetic connection’ with Ayodhya.”I share my genes with the royal family of Ayodhya. Travellers from both these countries not just traded goods, but also genes. And I hail from the Kara dynasty, whose first woman was the princess of Ayodhya, who married the first Kara king. Her brothers went on to become the Kings of Ayodhya and this is how I am genetically connected to the holy city,” said Prof Kim. The archaeologist, whose work on the princess of Ayodhya marrying the prince of Korea’s Kara dynasty in 4th century AD has received widespread recognition, is on his fifth visit to the Holy city in search of more evidence for his study. On his three-day visit to the state, he not only visited Ayodhya but also made a slide presentation on historical evidences of cultural links between Ayodhya and Korea, on being invited by the state government’s Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan. “The queen of Korea’s biggest dynasty Hoh was the daughter of Ayodhya and in that manner, Ayodhya is like our mother city. Princess Ho travelled by sea route and married King Kim Suro of Kara dynasty. He was the first king and the entire Kara clan, which comprises over about two third the population of Korea are its descendents,” said Prof Kim.

Personal history of Huh Whang Ok

The archaeological evidences of Korea and India – compared[2] (Jan.2010): The professor Kim says, “The twin fish, which is the state symbol of Uttar Pradesh and is found on almost all the ancient buildings of Ayodhya, is the biggest clue to the link and the route undertaken by Princess Hoh,. “I have pictorial evidences. The twin fish symbol is originally from the Mediterranean states and it travelled to this part of the world and settled around Lucknow. But the same twin fish symbol can also be seen in ancient buildings in Nepal, Pakistan, China and Japan and the gate of royal tomb of King Suro in Kimhae city in Korea,” said Prof Kim. But, it is not this connection alone that has brought the archaeologist here as he also seeks a cultural connect between Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh and Kimhae city in Korea. “For the last 40 years, I have bn tracing the route taken by the princess between Ayodhya and Kimhae city and after five visits, I have all the evidence to culturally connect the two cities.” Nearly six years ago [2004], the Korean government had declared Ayodhya as the sister city of Korea and a monument in the memory of Princess Hoh was also established here in the city. “The Kara clan is the biggest community in Korea and we like to visit our queen mother’s place. Through these visits, we are making attempts to talk to the Uttar Pradesh government to open up their doors for strengthening cultural relations between the two countries,” said Prof Kim. Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan director Dr Y P Singh said the state’s culture department is making all efforts to help the Koreans find their missing links. “Through these interactions, we have been able to find new facets of Ayodhya and now in addition to being Lord Ram’s birthplace, the city has another significance attached,” said Singh.k[3].

Upgrading the monument for Queen Suriratna, also know as Hur Hwang-ok, in Ayodhya[4] (July 2015): Beginning Tuesday, July 12, 2015, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with the India International Centre (IIC) will initiate a two-day international conference. India has begun the work of tracing its “shared heritage” with Korea using the legendary Queen Suriratna, a princess from Ayodhya who travelled to the country to marry King Kim Suro in 48 AD, as a pivot[5]. This tale of the Ayodhya princess was also mentioned in “Samkuk Sagi”, ‘Samguk Yusa’ or ‘The Heritage History of the Three Kingdoms’, a treasured work in Korea which was written in the 13th century[6]. Her real name is not mentioned anywhere. While her memorial is located in Ayodhya [India], her tomb lies in Gimhae [Korea][7]. It is believed that the stones used to build the tomb were sent from Ayodhya to Korea. Gimhae Mayor Song Eun-Bok had visited Ayodhya in 2000 with a similar plan. It didn’t materialise, but he had inaugurated the queen’s memorial at that time. Later on, an agreement was signed in March 2001 to develop Ayodhya and Gimhae as sister cities. Now, a fresh initiative has been made to connect the two cities culturally[8].

The twin fish symbol travelled from the mediterranean to Ahodhya, and then to Korea according to Byung Mo Kim

Intenational conference on the links between Korea and India (July 2015): During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Seoul in May, it was announced that India and Korea would strengthen their historic connection by enhancing linkages of Korean people with Ayodhya. A decision was also taken to upgrade the monument for Queen Suriratna, also know as Hur Hwang-ok, in Ayodhya as a joint project between the two countries. Beginning Tuesday, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with the India International Centre (IIC) will initiate a two-day international conference, which will include delegates from Korea, to discuss the aspects of cultural links between the two countries, focusing on the legend of the Queen. “There is limited awareness in India about Queen Suriratna, a lot of information has not been documented. Based on the contribution from scholars and researchers at the two-day conference, we will come out with a book on the Queen,” said an official of the ICCR.

The journey of Huh Whang Ok, according to Byung Mo Kim

Similarities between Indians and Koreans poined out[9]: Work on renovation of the monument dedicated to the Queen in Ayodhya will also commence soon. The ICCR official said details about how the princess from Ayodhya travelled to Korea and became the Queen are sparse, though there is the work of Prof. Kim Byung-mo and a television series that was broadcast on the Korean TV channel MBC in 2010[10]. In India there have been a few publications, including a book by India’s former Ambassador to Korea N. Parthasarathi, but no extensive academic work done on the issue on both sides. Notes about the seminar released by the ICCR, point out that the Queen’s descendants in Korea include the Gimhae Kims, Huhs and the Incheon area Lee clans. “Among her famous descendents is Gen. Kim Yoo-shin, who first unified the Korean Kingdom in the 7th Century. Contemporary personalities include former President and Nobel laureate Kim Dae-jung and former Prime Minister Kim Jong-pil, former President Kim Young-sam, and the wife of former President Lee Myung-bak (Ms. Kim Yoon-ok),” the ICCR document says. It goes on to claim that Gimhae Kims and Huhs do not inter-marry as both are believed to be the descendants of King Kim Suro and Queen Heo, much like the ‘gotra tradition’ followed in India.

Ayodhya Korea connection - 6 route to Korea from Ayodhya-boat

Koreans come to Ayodhya to commomerate her Queen Hur Hwang-ok[11]: The holy city of Ayodhya, in Uttar Pradesh, plays host to hundreds of South Koreans every year – who come to pay their tributes to the legendary queen Hur Hwang-ok. According to legend, queen Hur Hwang-ok, also known as Princess Suriratna, was the princess of Ayodhya before she went to South Korea and married King Kim Suro of Karak Clan in 48 AD. It is believed that she reached Korea on a boat, and was the first queen of King Suro of Geumgwan Gaya. She was 16-year-old when she got married and is considered the first queen of Gaya Kingdom. It is because of the presence of her monument in Ayodhya that around 60 lakh people of the Karak clan consider the city as their maternal home. The memorial was first inaugurated in 2001 in Ayodhya and more than a hundred historians and government representatives, including the North Korean ambassador to India, were present during the ceremony. Seven million Koreans, representing the Kimhae Kim clan, Hur clan and Incheon Yi clan, trace their ancestry to the royal union.

Kanimozhi’s visit to Tirumala in 2012 and criticism made in 2017: Kanimozhi, the Rajya Sabha MP claimed that she visited Tirumala, as a member of the Committee under Venkaiah Naidu, during her controversial speech made at the WAC, Trichy on 06-01-2018. She had claimed that she had recently visited the popular Tirupati Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh[1]. Kanimozhi said she, along with some other MPs, was taken to the temple by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, as a part of a Home Affairs Committee, through a special route arranged for the group[2].  “If you give more money and buy a ticket you get special dharsanam [visit]. If not, you stand for 10 hours, 20 hours or two days. That is god………He (accompanied MP) told me that all their wishes are being granted and they are being protected…I then asked him, there is a money collection box right in front of the god. Why is there a security personnel with a stun gun protecting it? People who run the temple are not confident that god can protect the money collection box. Why should I believe in god?”…..” When TNM contacted Kanimozhi she was unfazed by the opposition that the speech has garnered[3]. “Whatever happens, I will face it legally. I said this at an Atheist Conference,” she says[4]. This made me to dig into her visit, because, as an atheist, she should not have visited the temple. The background of the visit and the details are as follows.

Why and how Kanimozhi visited Tirumala and also SHAR, and Kalpakkam in November 2012?: As a part of a Home Affairs Committee, kanimozhi visited the Tirumala temple on November 12, 2012. The team paid a visit to both –

  • the pilgrim-choked Vaikuntam queue complexes,
  • Kalyanakatta and
  • Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba free meals complex and
  • the TTD-run Aswini hospital[5].

Prominent among others who were present were included members of the committee –

  1. Kanimozhi,
  2. Raman Deka,
  3. Santosh Chowdary,
  4. Ravneet Singh,
  5. Neeraj Sekhar,
  6. TTD Executive Officer L.V. Subramanyam,
  7. JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju,
  8. CVSO G.V.G. Ashok Kumar
  9. and others[6].

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu on Friday (November 12, 2012) expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements being made by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) atop the sacred shrine of Lord Venakteswara. Talking to media persons, Mr. Naidu said that the committee has been visiting several important places in the country, including Tirumala, SHAR, and Kalpakkam to study the existing security mechanism at all the places. He said that the committee was also scheduled meet the top brass of the TTD officials, intelligence officials and the officials of the State Home Department on Saturday in Tirupati wherein issues relating to disaster management and security mechanism will be discussed. Besides this, the committee will also discuss issues relating to the marine security in the coastal belt apart from the proposal to bring Tirumala under the ‘no-fly’ zone category. The TTD authorities on their part explained to the team the various initiatives being adopted by the temple administration towards crowd management, queue system and the amenities being extended to pilgrims visiting Tirumala.

Kanimozhi had special darsham tirth, prasad and saree: There have been many official reports, videos of the TTD and TV channels, News reports in English and Telugu as to why she visited the temple, what she did and other details:

  1. Kanimozhi visited the Tirumala temple on November 12, 2012 as a part of a Home Affairs Committee, to inspect the security arrangements being made by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
  2. She met the top brass of the TTD officials, intelligence officials and the officials of the State Home Department on Saturday in Tirupati wherein issues relating to disaster management and security mechanism.
  3. She verified the various initiatives being adopted by the temple administration towards crowd management, queue system and the amenities being extended to pilgrims visiting Tirumala.
  4. She had gone to Kalyanakatta where tonsure is made that involves hygiene and other issues. When two women member had symbolic tonsure, she was there and joined them.
  5. Went to Pushkarni to note the maintenance, refilling of water etc.

  7. Went to free-meals section, inspected the vessels for the cooking of food that is fed to thousands daily.
  8. Went to laddu counter, where, laddu and other prasadams were given free to her.
  9. She visited the temple to pray Sri Venkateswara to clear all problems, she was facing.

Reaching “Way to Darshan”!!!!

What Kanimozhi spoke on 06-01-2018 at the WAC: From 12-11-2012 to 06-01-2018, what happened to he exposes her psyche.

What Kanimozhi talked Comments
“If you give more money and buy a ticket you get special dharsanam [visit]. First of all, as an atheist, you should not have visited the temple.

As even when non-Hindus visit, they sign a form that I believe in Sri Venkateswara, you must have signed.

If not, Venkaiya Naidu should be held responsible for violating the norms.

As they went to inspect, evidently, they signed.

If not, you stand for 10 hours, 20 hours or two days. That is god……… You should have waited, paid and went side, but, you enjoyed VVVVIP darshan! Shame, atheist, shame!!
That is Kanimozhi, the principle-less atheist, and thus,anti-Hindu!
He (accompanied MP) told me that all their wishes are being granted and they are being protected…I then asked him, there is a money collection box right in front of the god. Why is there a security personnel with a stun gun protecting it? The Telugu people explicitly answered that people like you might loot, that is why they stand with guns.

Moreover, as you had gone there to inspect the security aspects, you could not have made such idiotic statement!

People who run the temple are not confident that god can protect the money collection box. Why should I believe in god?”….. Shame on you, idiotic that we have MP like you and allowing you inside the temple.
Perhaps, you had gone inside to know the security arrangement to attack!
If that God does not protect, I say that God is not there….. Had you gone there to inspect the security aspects, or the existence of Go?

Your blabbering exposes your honesty, integrity and sincerity as a MP.

Thus, it is evident that by all means, the MP has lost her credibility and she should be stripped of MP post or she should resign immediately.

Cong MLC, P Sudhakar Reddy condemns Kani on 12-01-2018

Complaints made against Kanimozhi: The local BJP leaders led by former TTD Board member G Bhanu Prakash Reddy submitted a written complaint to Urban ASP Srinivasulu against DMK MP Kanimozhi here on Thursday, (11-01-2018) for hurting the religious beliefs of Hindus[7]. She made adverse comments on the Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala at a Tiruchi meeting in Tamil Nadu[8]. Rayalaseema Porata Samithi (RPS) convener P Naveen Kumar Reddy has condemned the DMK MP comments against the presiding deity of Tirumala. He demanded that the state government’s Endowments department take legal action against Kanimozhi. The RPS activists staged a dharna near Alipiri. Ironically, in Tamilnadu, the so-called Hindutwavadis, Sangh-parivar, BJPwalas and other “Hindus” have been keeping quite for unknown reasons. The foreign delegates and other responsible delegates who attended the WAC should take care of the facts.

Tarun Vijay has been caught into the Dravidian cobweb without understanding the the Dravidian ideology, philosophy and polity!

April 8, 2017

Tarun Vijay has been caught into the Dravidian cobweb without understanding the the Dravidian ideology, philosophy and polity!

Tarun tweets to apologize on black people-4

“We have black people around us,” said Tarun Vijay[1]: Day after the Centre denied charges of racism in the assault on a group of Nigerians in Greater Noida, the BJP was left red-faced by its leader Tarun Vijay’s remark during a discussion on Al Jazeera that Indians cannot be called racists as they live with “black people” from the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh[2]. “If we were racist, why would we have the entire south, which is complete, you know, Tamil, you know Kerala, you know Karnataka and Andhra, why do we live with them? We have black people around us,” said Vijay[3]. He has been totally wrong in dubbing the South Indian people have been black and as if the north Indian people white. In other words, he has accepted the dubbing of Dravidian ideologists that thw “Aryans invaded India suppressing the black Dravidians”! The remarks sparked a furore, embarrassing the former MP’s party colleagues and leadership[4]. Some opined that whatever, the good work, he has done through the installation of Tiruvalluvar, has undone through such meaningless remarks. More so, because BJP chief Amit Shah had called on 06-04-2017 [Thursday] for expanding the party’s roots and strengthening the organisation in southern states.

Tarun tweets to apologize on black people

The African envoys accused India of “racism”: India reacted sharply as a group of 44 African envoys described the attacks as “xenophobic and racial” and accused the government of taking no “known, sufficient and visible” deterrent action. In parliament Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said that the attacks were “criminal acts” and cannot be called racial. “Before the inquiry is completed, please don’t say it is driven by racial discrimination,” she said, while speaking in the Lok Sabha, where some opposition leaders demanded to know the government’s response to allegations of “racial attacks” on Africans in Greater Noida. In India, the attacks on the Africans have been mainly due to drug trafficking, financial frauds and sexual harassment incidences. In medieval period and even today, they have been engaged in piracy also demanding ransom. The Indians, (in general, though, do not bother about the movement of the foreigners), have been cautious about the Nigerians only for these reasons. However, they continue to get involved in such activities. Thus, Tarun has failed to point out the facts to the foreign media, instead indulged in talking about “not-known” subject to him. While the attacks on Indians have been racist in US, UK, Australia and other countries, in India, the attacks are not racial, but, retaliatory nature, because of the explicit reasons.

Tarun tweets to apologize on black people-2

“The Hindu” has been so happy in interpreting “racist” twist, with Marxist attack on BJP[5]: BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha member Tarun Vijay’s statement to a television channel that Indians could not be racists as they lived with “black” South Indians, sparked off a storm on the social media on Friday [07-04-2017], with Mr. Vijay coming in for severe criticism. Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat told The Hindu: “Mr. Tarun Vijay’s comment reflects the core Hindutva ideology of Aryan superiority. What was in my mind came out today. He has apologised for his words, but his thoughts will remain what they are.” The Communist / Marxist “The Hindu” added glefully that, “Mr. Vijay is a former editor of RSS-related publication Panchjanya. While refusing to come on record, a BJP leader said that Mr. Vijay had himself retracted his statement and it was time to move on”, as if it is “secular, unbiased and balanced”. This has been the way, the Indian media has been working catering to the needs of Indians.

Through twitter, he apologized and corrected himself: Vijay was not available for comment but apologised for his remarks, while attempting to explain them, in a series of tweets[6]. In one tweet, he acknowledged that his remarks sounded “ridiculous and very bad”[7]. “In many parts of the nation we have different people, in colour and never ever we had any discrimination against them,” he posted[8]. “My words perhaps were not enough to convey this. Feel bad, really feel sorry, my apologies to those who feel I said different than what I meant,” he wrote[9]. He even said[10], “I said we worship Krishna, which literally em, ans black, we were the first to oppose any racism and were in fact victims of racist British” and “In may parts of the nation we have different people, in colour and never ever we had any discrimination against them”. But, it was too late, as what he said was broadcast already[11]. However, it is evident that he has not understood the history of South India, particularly, that of Tamlnadu and its implications. Or the advisiors from Tamilnadu has been misguiding him through their wonderful ideas. Even in the case of Tiruvalluvar and connected issues, they had misled him for the consequences, that I explained in my Tamil blogs.

Tarun tweets to apologize on black people-3

The BJP leaders have been ignorant of the Dravidian ideology, philosophy and polity: However, at least three senior BJP leaders and an MP told The Indian Express that the comments from the former editor of RSS mouthpiece Panchajanya were “extremely embarrassing” and could damage the party’s image in the south. “It’s really bad for us that this has come the day after our party chief wanted leaders to strengthen the party in the southern states. In spite of all the explanations and the apologies, such statements will damage the party’s image and adversely affect its efforts to come up as a party for all,” said one leader.  The BJP cannot handle issues of South India or Tamilnadu in this way, without understanding the facts. The present leadership of Tamilnadu has not been any match to the Dravidian political and ideological leaders, as most of them have been ignorant of the Dravidian ideology, philosophy and polity since 1920s to 1970s.

The Kerala BJP leadrrs have been uncomfotable with his comments: In Kerala, where the BJP is in the race for the Lok Sabha by-election in Malappuram, a leader pointed out that Vijay’s comments have become a “hot topic” for the media. Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan and former state chief V Muraleedharan said the matter should be “closed” as Vijay had apologised. But Rajasekharan said, “If there has to be an explanation, the party leadership should be asking for it.” A BJP leader from the state said Vijay’s remark would “overshadow” the party’s attempts to highlight the “Communist violence against the BJP and the RSS” at the national level. “These leaders should be cautious in making remarks in public. With social media and visual media being so alive now, one has to be cautious,” said the leader.

The Tamilnadu BJP leaders should be trained in the Dravidian ideology, philosophy and polity: When contacted by The Indian Express, BJP general secretary P Muralidhar Rao said, “He has realised that what he said was wrong and against the BJP’s ideology. He has apologised for it, why should we pursue it now?” Rao said that Vijay would not have meant what he said. “This man has been working with cultural organisations in Tamil Nadu. He has carved out a space for himself in the cultural field there,” said Rao. In one of his tweets, Vijay wrote: “I have Tamil, Bengali, Telugu in my family — worked with commitment for Tamil culture, without any politics, collectively with all.” In another tweet, he wrote: “I can die but how can I ridicule my own culture, my own people and my own nation? Think before you misinterpret my badly framed sentence.” That was followed by this line: “And, I never, never, even in a slip, termed south India as black. Have patience to watch the show before reacting angrily.” In the programme, Vijay was defending India against charges of racism following the attacks on the African students.
