Why Madurai Pastor followed the policy of “robbing peter to pay paul”? Do the Christians want to replay “Liberation Theology” again?

Pastor arrested for stealing bikes TOI, 13-06-2020-1

Pastor Samuel, running Christian Brothers Assembly Church arrested for stealing bikes: As a pastor he was a man of God who had heard many a confession, but for pastor Vijayan Samuel  K. Vijayan alias Samuel, 38 (according to The Hindu), his judgment day came on Saturday, 13th June 2020, when he had to confess to his crimes and police recovered a dozen stolen two-wheelers from him[1]. The 36-year-old pastor, originally from Theni, was running a prayer hall [Christian Brothers Assembly Church] at a rented place at Thanakkankulam on the outskirts of Madurai for the past two years[2].  Investigation showed that he pledged the two-wheelers with a second-hand vehicle dealer, Selvam, 42, in Tirupparankundram[3]. He too was arrested. According to police, contributions to Samuel’s prayer hall dried up due to the coronavirus lockdown[4]. Though he had stopped congregation services, he had to pay rent for the building which was around Rs. 10,000 a month. The pastor literally found his calling in bikes parked on roadsides with keys intact and started stealing them. As he could not make both ends meet. Hence, he resorted to stealing bikes, especially women’s scooters with keys in the ignition.

Stealing bikes, pledging, getting money ad paying for Prayer Hall: He would watch out for vehicles left behind by owners in commercial areas such as SS Colony, Subramaniyapuram and Thirumangalam in the city. Using a copy of the vehicle records, he would pledge them for money. He gave three such stolen vehicles to his family members in Cumbum and a couple of them to people who took part in his prayer services, say police. Samuel ran out of luck when he took one such stolen vehicle to a mechanic on Bypass Road in the city recently for repair. The mechanic, who found the two-wheeler to be similar to one lost by his customer recently, informed him about it. The customer soon arrived and confirmed that it was his stolen vehicle. They both alerted the Subramanipuram police who promptly picked up Vijayan when he returned to take possession of the vehicle on Saturday, 13th June 2020. “He parked his motorbike in the vicinity and rode away with the two-wheeler,” a police officer said. “He returned after some time to pick up his bike.”

The police caught the Pastor: A crime police team, led by Inspector S. Priya, launched a search after six bikes were reported missing in the last six months[5]. The breakthrough came when a then sub-inspector, A. Jai Sankar, chanced upon a photo and video footage of a suspect in bike theft cases[6]. Police said Samuel pledged his motorbikes with Selvam for a paltry price. And when he took a motorbike, stolen in March, for repair to a workshop, the mechanic noted his details. After ascertaining Samuel’s whereabouts, a special team picked him up at Thanakkankulam. Eleven stolen motorbikes, six from Subramaniyapuram, four from S.S. Colony and one from Tirumangalam, were recovered. Samuel and Selvam were remanded to judicial custody.

“liberation theology” and “robbing peter to pay paul” working in India: During 1980s, the Christians started experimenting with “Liberation theology” in Tamilnadu[7]. There was a spurt of literature produced in this aspect. The books of John C. B. Webster had been repeatedly quoted by the Indian theologians who were advocating “liberation theology.”[8] Violence was also subtly advocated by interpreting Bible and exploiting Latin American model in Indian context. The Indian Bank at Mamanglam branch was looted by two Catholic pastors and they were arrested in April 1980[9]. Ponparapi, Meensurutti, Gangaikonda Cholapuram and other areas around Chidambaram became hiding places for the extremist liberation theologians, Naxalites and Tamil-separatist groups. “robbing peter to pay paul” has been consciously operating among these groups. As they wanted to wage war against the government, they did not repent from carrying out violent methods and even killing people. The details need not be discussed here, but, it is suffice to note that the “liberation theology” and “robbing peter to pay paul” have been working still in the minds of certain Christian groups that are very dangerous for the unity and integrity of India. Under the serious Carona conditions, these are happening means, Indians have to be careful to contain them.

Madurai area notorious for communal clashes and violence [1989]: In October 1989, clashes started when John Pandian, 36, a member of a Christian community, in a speech Sept. 14, 1989 reportedly offended higher castes by threatening to kidnap the local leader´s daughter and marry her[10]. CM Karunanidhi told journalists the trouble started when a Harijan (low-caste) woman was found murdered in nearby Meenakshipuram village. Investigations revealed she was murdered by a mentally deranged man, who was arrested and later released. Subsequently, Pandian, addressing a public meeting, made derogatory remarks about the village president and asked Harijans to marry the president´s daughter by force, Karunanidhi said. The remark led to violence, he added. More than 100 homemade pistols were seized in and around Bodinaickanur village, mostly from Harijans. Many non-Harijans in the area also reportedly possessed licenced firearms, making the task of police difficult. Tirunelveli, Pandian´s home district, and nearby Kanayakumari district have large concentrations of Christians. His fiery speeches have periodically made news, and he was arrested several times on criminal charges[11].

Lieration theology fr Asia, books

India, Indian society and Indian survive with all onslaughts: With 130 billion population, India has been existing with all inherent and external interferences, exploitations and attacks. Even during the emergency, disastrous and Carona periods, Indians have bee exhibiting their humane values and that is why all have been going on well. It is very easy for any writer, journalist researcher, Christian, Mohammedan, Communist and of any other categories to criticize Indians, Indian social system and processes, religious system and beliefs. But, generally, everything has been going on smoothly, unless, these external forces disturb. From the intrusion of non-Indians, Mohammedans of many categories, to the occupation of colonial Europeans of many nations and groups, Indians have been minding their duties and responsibilities and carrying on their daily routines.  They could look at their societies, self-assess, audit and account, before coming to India and criticize. They can honestly, sincerely and faithfully, examine. Apprise and adjudicate as to why the belief in God has been going down among their believers.

India is criticized and Indians disparaged with bias and prejudice: A few “rebellions,” “uprisings” and “upsurges,” they could not contain but resorted to the most heinous criminal methods killing Indians with brutal force. The Mohammedans and the colonial Europeans till date have no guts to come out with their record of killing Indiands during their reigns in India and other Sian counties. And now they want to advise, lecture and tutor about human rights, animal rights and so on. Now, the American and European societies have been witnessing riots, violence and killings. And the much-maligned Asians have been watching them to note how uncivilized they have been with all their sophisticated infrastructures, filthy richness and dominating snobbery. For western, non-Indian and mentally Christian scholars, they have always bias in their minds[12]. They write more exaggerating blowing mole into big proportions, without appreciating the values cherished[13]. Just with the religious arrogance and made-up mindset, they want to criticize everything that is Indian.

The 80th session of Indian History Congress held at Kannur University –The Governor speech was interrupted, Irfan Habib created a scene on the stage misbehaving! [4]

IHC - the two girls that created ruckus, Deepak touching police

Note those two “women-delegates,” who were used as a front, to start the ruckus and ten run riot to spoil the image of IHC.

IHC - the girl that created problem

See her face, how it changes…………..

IHC - the girl that created problem, how much strength

Yes, she can use force, as could be seen from her facial expression of violence…

The Bengali girl tossed the cap of the police

In that skirmish, the Lady-police hat was tossed and she catches it and wears! Thus, the so-called “woman-delegate” has no decency to respect a “Woman-police”! Is that way, she has been taught to oppose the authority?

Irfan Habib, the two women delegates and the rabble-rousing historians are not innocent: The media continued to report twisting the facts of events, as follows: “When the governor touched upon the subject of the CAA and defended the Centre, some participants started raising their voices in protest. When he said the house is open for discussion, two women delegates who were research fellows in the JNU, raised placards saying ‘this house (India) is not open for any discussions’. Even though the governor was heard saying that they have the right to protest democratically, the security officers tried to eject them. By then, the atmosphere was charged. Participants, students and professors began chanting slogans against the governor’s “political remarks”. According to some delegates, Khan quoted Maulana Azad, saying “the Partition took the dirt away but some potholes were left behind, where water has collected and now it is stinking.” He told the protestors, “You are causing a foul smell. Maulana Azad had said this for you.” This is when noted historian, professor Irfan Habib stood up and asked him to “quote Nathuram Godse” rather than Maulana Azad or Gandhi”. The media has utterly failed in pointing out the illegal misbehaviour, misconduct and unruly act of Irfan Habib and the so-called “women delegates”!

Histrisans shouting at Governer

Historians shouted and created ruckus-2

Historians shouted and created ruckus-3

Running riot historians or delegates

Running riot historians or delegates or mob

How the media has been mischievous in glorifying the rowdy behaviour of the historians: The media continued to report twisting the facts of events, as follows: “Particularly unseemly was the pandemonium that marked the inaugural with the distinguished historian and president of the current IHC, Irfan Habib (Aligarh school) getting up from his chair on the stage to remark, “The Governor may talk about Godse but not Maulana Azad.” That punctuated the Governor’s presentation with a full stop[1]. Mr Khan had his dander up, provoking the protesters to debunk the constitutional head for what they called his “unwarranted political remarks”. It needs to be underlined that the Indian History Congress ought not to be the venue of an ideological spat[2]. While the West Bengal Governor was barred from entering the JU campus as Chancellor on convocation day, the Kerala Governor, Mr Arif Mohammad Khan, was booed so severely that he had to wind up his address, claiming that his freedom of speech was being denied”.  Silly, stupid and ridiculous for the media to conclude that the act of disrespecting the Governors in the universities is a great job. That proves their ugly mindset of acting against the Act and Rules of this nation.

Irfan Habib tried to prevent Governer-4

Irfan’s idiotic talk of IHC not inviting the Governor: The media continued to report twisting the facts of events, as follows: “Historian Irfan Habib said the Indian History Congress (IHC) did not invite Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and it was the host institution, Kannur University, which invited him and other political leaders. “It is the right of the host institution to invite, however, we would not have thought of him,” the historian said criticising the Governor[3]. He was responding to the event that unfolded during the inauguration of the 80th session of the IHC at the university. He told The Hindu that the delegates were provoked when he started to speak about the Citizenship Amendment Act and denounced the Muslims. “The Governor was not invited to speak on CAA and the time of IHC is not for wasting,” he said adding that the Governor had the right to speak to an audience of his own[4]. The historian pointed out that the Governor was going into things that were no concern to the IHC. He was asked to address the IHC and not to a political audience, he asserted. Asked if there was a violation of the Governor’s protocol, Mr. Habib said the protocol did not govern the IHC and they had their own constitution. The members of IHC are governed by the Indian Constitution and the IHC’s, he said adding that the Governor’s protocol was false. Habib pointed out that in the past the President, the Vice-President and other eminent people attended the congress without any protocol. Habib was also critical of the Kerala government for posting the police at the IHC venue. The government should explain why policemen were deputed and four people were detained, he said. Habib also accused the police of obstructing him, when they had no business to be on the podium. So he pushed them aside to speak to the local secretary. He also expressed his concern that it happened in Kerala, where the Left government was governing.

Irfan pulled by Kannur VC and taken aside

Irfan Habib’s lies and the media coverage: There have been many documents that lay mandatory conditions as to how a Governor has to be treated when he is invited for any function. A University is a place, where, educated people are there, it is unimaginable that such events could have taken place at Kannur. Being a responsible historian, Habib went on telling lies.:

  1. Whether IHC invited, Kannur University invited, that is immaterial, as the so-called historians have to behave properly respecting the post.
  2. The Governor has not only been head of the Kerala State, but, Chancellor of all Universities of Kerala.
  3. The VC of Kannur University is responsible for the behaviour of the historians or delegates, who came there.
  4. As the Kannur University hosted the session, the IHC has been equally responsible for the decent behaviour and smooth proceedings of the deliberations.
  5. That the “women-delegates” were so prompt and ready to swing in action to show the placards, shout slogans and roughly behaved with the police proved that they had planned already.
  6. Habib’s blabbering that, “the Governor had the right to speak to an audience of his own,” is idiotic, because, he was the first person started heckling and interfering with the speech of the Governor.
  7. Habib’s, “I am 88; his ADC must have been 35 or 40. You can imagine the falsity of this statement from these facts,” rant[5] has been totally false, as the video proved his behaviour.
  8. Ironically, not only ADC, the VC had to control him, pull his hands, pulled him aside and made him to sit away from the Governor. So all had watched how the 88 behaved with vigour!
  9. The reporter of “The Hindu” and other media houses should know some fundamentals about the duties of Chancellor, VC and other dignitaries of the University.
  10. The IHC had involved in politics long back and the historians cannot fool common people and citizens of India. Perhaps, the people might start questioning them one day, if they continue to lie in this fashion. It is not their “Marxist or Mohammedan historiography” to interpret, misinterpret or distort to suit them without any objectivity, impartiality and neutrality.

Irfan Habib a liar, rowdy

What Governor told

Telling lies bad for historians: The media continued to report twisting the facts of events, as follows: “Historians[6], Jabir Raza of AMU and Farhat Hasan of DU, said[7], “When the protests commenced, professor Irfan Habib, who was on the dais in the capacity of the outgoing president of the IHC, got up from his seat and proceeded to the VC of Kannur University, Gopinath Ravindran, to request him to stop what was happening and requested the governor to refrain from turning the IHC into his political arena. He had also requested the governor to stop making remarks of the nature he was indulging in. As soon as Habib went there, the ADC and the security officer of the governor pushed him aside and tried to stop him. The governor, too, started accusing Habib of trying to stop him from speaking.” But, these two were sitting 100 ft away among the audience, of course shouting at the Governor, as the videos show, therefore, they had lied only. Irony and regrettable that the historians behave like rowdies.

The 80th session of Indian History Congress held at Kannur University – Highly politicized and spoiled show – The Governor targeted with agenda! [3]

IHC Kannur politicized with rowdyism

The ugly political background of the present IHC: The background of Kannur and politics have to be known, probed and understood by historians. IHC has been conducting its annual tamasha only in Communist, congress and Mohammedan dominated areas since 1980s. It is a fact that those government sponsor and grant money, so that their political ideologies are nurtured, percolated through papers and getting published in the proceedings. This is how the academic proceedings have been manipulated. Instead of uniting youth, they have been doing their worst to divide them based on communalized ideology, ideologized polity and politicized pseudo-secularism. None could imagine that Ambedkar did not know secularism, just because, it was inserted later. Therefore, the amendment of the provisions of the Constitution according to the existing exigency has been quite normal, whereas, the opposition parties have been trying to run riot on one or other pretext.

Kannur political and communal murders Graphics-4

Organizing Committee formed with the CM and other political leaders: The 80th edition of Indian History Congress would be held at Kannur University in the last week of December 2019[1].

  1. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and
  2. Minister of State for External Affairs V Muralidharan were elected as the chief patrons of its organising committee[2].
  3. The university’s Vice-Chancellor Gopinath Raveendran is its chairman.
  4. District panchayath President K V Sumesh,
  5. Syndicate member Dr V P P Musthafa, PK Sreemathi,
  6. Pro VC Dr PT Raveendran,
  7. Syndicate members Dr John Joseph,
  8. Advocate P Santhosh Kumar and
  9. Binju Kandakkai were elected as other members of the committee[3].
  10. Syndicate member A Nishanth,
  11. historian Dr C Balan,
  12. University Union chairperson Sisira TK were elected as conveners.
  13. Dr P Mohandas was elected as local secretary and
  14. Dr Manjula Poyil was elected as Treasurer.

Apart from them, cultural leaders, representatives of the people, political party leaders, research scholars, journalists, teachers and students are also part of the committee[4]. Pro VC Dr PT Raveendran presided over the meeting. VC Dr Gopinath Raveendran spoke about the importance of the event.

  1. Ports Minister Ramachandran Kadannappally was the chief guest.
  2. District panchayath president KV Sumesh,
  3. corporation councillor Lisha Deepak,
  4. Dr VPP Mushtafa, Biju Kandakkai, A Nishanth, Dr John Joseph,
  5. CPM district secretary MV Jayarajan,
  6. CPI district secretary P Santhosh Kumar,
  7. IUML district general secretary Abdul Karim Cheleri, Dr Manjula Poil and Dr C Balan participated in the meeting held.

Thus, the Marxist, Leninist, and all communist categories, Mohammedan and “secular” groups have ganged up, obviously to do something.

Kannur political and communal murders Graphics-3

IUML and communists engaged in poltical murders in Kannur and other places: It is interesting to note how IHC is regularly dominated with politicians, that too, with fundamentalist Mohammedans.  Just in May 2019, when CPM Kannur district secretary M V Jayarajan demanded that Muslim women who queue up in polling booths should remove their face veil, Abdul Karim Cheleri said the communal mindset of the CPM has been exposed through Jayarajan’s statement[5]. LDF candidate P K Sreemathi too supported the demand[6]. “Jayarajan had raised the issue to prevent bogus voting. It’s not an anti-religious statement, said Sreemathi[7]. However, IUML does not want others to interfere with their religious sanctions[8]. Moreover, for IHC how these politicians are coming together is not, as otherwise, their party cadres have been involved in killing each other. Just two months back, the same Abdul Karim Cheleri accused CPI (M) involved in killing their cadre accusing another Jayarajan[9]. Isahak, 38, was allegedly hacked to death at Tanur by a group of unidentified assailants with suspected links to the ruling Left[10]. Meanwhile, the IUML alleged that there was a CPI(M) conspiracy behind the attack.[11] “Former Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan came to the area a few days ago and held a meeting where some of the culprits also took part,” a Youth League leader alleged.

How K.K.N.Kurupp narrates about the murderous Kannur heritage: The culture of bloodshed in Kannur, which continues even today despite ritualistic political handshakes to give peace a chance, is probably as old as the folk traditions of the land, its myths and history[12]. From the myths of theyyams that glorified the subaltern gods to the Vadakkanpattu (ballads) and the revolt against the British by Pazhassi Raja, there are plenty of stories where people shed blood with pride. But in the age of democracy why is this place obsessed with martyrdom? Is it because a martyr is a political investment? From the murder of RSS leader Vadikkal Ramakrishnan in Thalassery in 1968 (considered to be the first political murder) to killing of E Santhosh (another RSS activist) in January 2017, nearly 186 people have been killed here over the past five decades. The north Malabar region always had a tradition of violence right from the days of feudalism, said historian K K N Kurup[13]. “If the reason is politics, why is it not there in other parts of India or Kerala? Why they practice this camouflage battle strategy here only?“ he asked. He felt that this was the continuation of a tribal character though their act of vendetta is political in nature. “If African tribes involve in fights to assert their racial supremacy, here it is for political supremacy. Both reflect the same attitude. I feel they have the element of the `suicidal fighter’ in this age of democracy ,“ he said.

Kannur political and communal murders Graphics-2

K.K.N.Kurupp – refuted for his linking traditional pattus and dances to violence: However, it is wrong to link the gory culture in politics with Vadakkanpattu, said kalaripayattu exponent P Meenakshi Amma. “The fights narrated in Vadakkanpattu had a basic element of ethics. In the political battlefield, bloodshed is mostly an act of vendetta. They get involved in it because they have no knowledge about the tradition of kalaripayattu and Vadakkanpattu,“ she said. But this political violence cannot be isolated from the folk tradition of the place that often told the story of the lower-caste victims, said researcher T Sasidharan, who heads the political science department of Kannur S N College. He had exhaustively researched the history of political violence in Kannur and wrote a book titled `Radical Politics of Kannur’. “When we look at the socioeconomic aspect of the murders and violence in Kannur, it can be seen that nearly 65% of the martyrs, irrespective of politics, belong to the thiyya community. A majority of them are economically-backward,“ he said. Though the murder of Ramakrishnan is considered to be the beginning of political murders in Kannur, the roots of political violence began with the emergence of Praja Socialist Party (PSP) in the 1950s under P R Kurup, he said. There were clashes between PSP and the Communist Party in Panur and with the disintegration of PSP in the late 60s, the violence took a new turn when its workers joined Jana Sangh.

Jayaraj with Madani poster-IHC
It was only the political competition between the Communists and the Mohammedans: Though political rivalry is said to the reason for the violence here, the political character is fast vanishing and `quotation culture’ is making inroads, said K P Mohanan, a local political observer who has closely followed the culture of bloodshed in Kannur. Though murders have been an ongoing process, incidents such as the attack on CPM district secretary P Jayarajan on August 25, 1999 worsened the situation. This ultimately led to the murder of Yuva Morcha leader KT Jayakrishnan on December 1, 1999, and a spate of murders followed, he added. “It is a fact that Kannur shows a tribal character when it comes to murder, and that is why if one person is killed, his political tribe target the rival elsewhere. But, the tragedy is that quite often the poor working-class people coming home after their day’s work are the victims,“ he said. Incidentally, while murders in the past took place in broad daylight, now it is committed at night and this has given rise to the impression that some `third parties’ and quotation gangs ¬ without any political commitment ¬ have replaced the political warriors, claimed residents.

Malda IHC conference, communal fire and blaspheme riots – were they incidental, coincidental or ancillary (3)?

January 14, 2016

Malda IHC conference, communal fire and blaspheme riots – were they incidental, coincidental or ancillary (3)?

Malda map, IHC, poppy cultivation

Why the eminent historians are not punished for their lies and falsehood spread with their popularity[1]: As R. Vaidhyanathan[2] pointed out, “Clearly, the expertise of eminences has been exposed. If such a thing had happened in physics or chemistry or medicine or accounting, the concerned person would have been taken to task by their professional associations. Unfortunately, the social science disciplines in India are under the grip of Left charlatans and they are not accountable to any. It is important that they are made accountable. Many of the things they said hardened positions on both sides, and they cannot now wriggle out and claim what they said was not their expert opinion. Their respective universities would do well to initiate action against them or take other disciplinary steps to improve the reputation of the profession of historian. The textbooks written or edited by them for schools and colleges should be revoked and other books of less eminent — but more honest — historians should be prescribed. They need to be made accountable and brought to book, howsoever highly networked or “eminent” they are. Is the HRD ministry, and various universities, listening? ” Though, he raised this issue three years back, it was ignored and perhaps not noticed by many or such views were blacked out in the media, so that others might look at. Only one side views are presented to the readers, so that they believe what they read?  Now, coming to the issue, what Azam Khan told has to be noted in the context.

03-01-2016 violence Malda by Mus;ims preplannedAzam khan started “homosexual” controversy dragging RSS (November 2015): According to a report in Nai Dunia, the loudmouth SP leader, while commenting on the contentious issue of homosexuality, said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members are like that (homosexuals)[3], thus, the Zeenews reported. Driving his point home[4], Khan maintained ”this is the reason why the RSS people don’t marry.” This was reported on November 20th, 2015. The RSS had, however, taken a strong objection to Azam Khan’s statement and said that the SP leader has lost his mental balance. Khan’s comments came after Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, last Saturday, said that the “judgment on gay sex should be reconsidered” by the Supreme Court. “Supreme Court’s 2014 verdict banning gay sex is not in accordance with evolving legal jurisprudence and court needs to reconsider it,” Jaitley said while speaking at Times LitFest. Was it progressive or regressive view of a rightist? Thus, instead of appreciating, they stooped down to create problems and run riot for some reason. Incidentally, another case has also to be mentioned and discussed here, where, also the eminent historians were involved. It is nothing but the case of VJA Flynn, Australian professor, numismatist, Persian scholar and writer of books with some of them.

VJA Flynn case involving eminent historiansHow the eminent historians promoted smuggling of antiquities through Vincent John Adams Flynn: Dr. (Vincent John Adams) Flynn, the Australian Professor who used to come to India and smuggle out pre-Mauryan antiquities including coins and was caught red-handed at Indira Gandhi International Airport and then escaped through Indo-Australian Diplomatic agreement. He has been a very close and good friend of A.A.A. Rizvi, Nural Hassan, Irfan Habib and other “eminent” and “elite” historians of India! He has authored books with A.A.A. Rizvi, B.P. Saxena In 1993, “The officers of DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence), Delhi Zonal Unit, intercepted a consignment of antiquities which were being allegedly attempted to be smuggled out to Hong Kong in six packages vide shipping Bill No 416 dated January 19, 1993 by making false declaration as handicraft items of stones. The alleged antiquities were loaded from a container which was parked at ICD Tughlakabad, Okhla.” What were the items? 18 stone sculptures of deities, certified to be antiquities, by the Archaeological Survey of India. DRI officers caught hold of Girish Dhawan and registered a complaint that his services had been engaged for documentation and processing of shipping bills in question, for `a huge sum of rupees’. One learns from the text of the Delhi High Court judgment dated May 1 that the complaint had been filed under Sections 132 and 135(1)(a) of the Customs Act; queerly, “no complaint was filed for the violation of the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972.”

Which eminent historians and archaeologists gave certificates to VJA Flynn?: At the court, the accused relied upon a 1996 decision of the Delhi High Court: Dr. V.J.A. Flynn vs S.S. Chauhan[5]. That story was about Flynn and Sadasivan Mudaliar who were allegedly leaving for Sydney via Hong Kong by Air India Flight on June 21, 1994. “On being intercepted at the airport, it transpired that in the baggage of the petitioner there were coins which were suspected to be antiquities the export of which is prohibited under Section 3 of the Antiquities Act,” reads the text of Justice Usha Mehra’s verdict dated March 4, 1996. Flynn’s defence was that he had bought the rare coins from a shop in Bangalore. “He further states that he had been collecting the coins for over 50 years for his own delight and enjoyment. Some of these coins were of copper and silver.” Thus, he would have got certificates from his friendly-historians to the effect that they were only less than 100 / 50 years. Incidentally, their names were not mentioned, but, from the certificates produced to Custom authorities, who issued such certificates could be noted. Meanwhile Superintending Archaeologist examined the coins and prima facie opined that the same were antiquities.

Colonial impunity, Commonwealth courtesy and delay in bureaucracy helped Flynn to flow out of India!:  Antiquity is defined as including: “any coin, sculpture, painting epigraph or other work of art or craftsmanship; any article, object or thing detached from a building or cave; any article, object or thing illustrative of science, art, crafts, literature, religion, customs, morals or politics in bygone ages; any article, object or thing of historical interest; any article, object or thing declared by the Central Government, by notification in the Official Gazette, to be an antiquity for the purposes of this Act, which has been in existence for not less than one hundred years; and any manuscript, record or other document which is of scientific, historical, literary or aesthetic value and which has been in existence for not less than seventy-five years.” Justice Mehra pointed out that the predecessor Act, that is, the Antiquities Act, 1947, had made all the provisions of the Customs Act applicable to an offence committed under the Antiquities Act. However, the 1972 Act had omitted the applicability of all the provisions of the Customs Act. Accordingly, provisions of the Customs Act are now applicable only for confiscation and penalty, said the judge. Punishment and prosecution had to be under the Antiquities Act, she added, before quashing the complaint. In the Dhawan case, DRI submitted that the Flynn decision had been taken to the apex court through a Special Leave Petition[6].

Malda riot by the Muslims after IHC on 3-1-2016IHC ended with resolution on 30-12-2015 and the riots started on 03-01-2016: So when Hindu religion, beliefs, system and Hindus have been under such orchestrated, constant and continuous attacks, criticism and blasphemical talks and acts, can all such aggressive and intrusive acts be tolerated by the meek, mild and naive Hindus? The Times of India had in a report said that Tiwari, who claims to be the working president of Hindu Mahasabha, had called Prophet Muhammad the first homosexual in the world[7]. It is clear that TOI published such news in isolation without giving the context or full speech. Then, it adds that, “Tiwari’s statement had come a day after UP Cabinet minister Azam Khan called RSS members homosexuals”. According to reports, around one lakh Muslims on Friday 01-01-2016 gathered in Muzaffarnagar, demanding death penalty for Tiwari[8] i.e, fatwa for him! Straight away capital punishment ordered without arrest, trial etc., though, at the other side, the same progressive, leftists and other categories oppose it.

Malda set on fire buy the muslimsChauri-chaura type attack on Policce stations: Protesters under the banner of ‘Ittehad-e-Millat’ led by Maulana Khalid, closed their business and demonstrated against the Hindu Mahasabha activist [9]. Similar protests against Tiwari have been reported from Bengaluru and Delhi. Protesting against some `blasphemous` statements made by a Hindu Mahasabha leader Kamlesh Tiwari, a large number of people on Thursday 07-01-2016 went on a rampage in Purnea district of Bihar, torching vehicles and attacking a police station[10]. The Union Home Ministry has asked the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal for a report on the mob violence on Sunday, during a protest march at Kaliachak, a town near Malda which is the headquarter of the district of the same name. Protesters had set fire to a police station and damaged vehicles[11]. On Sunday, over a lakh protesters gathered for a rally called by a little-known Muslim organization Idara-e-Shariya against a right-wing activist’s alleged hate speech in Uttar Pradesh. The crowd then ransacked the jeep and attacked the Kaliachak police station and vehicles parked outside it. They also ransacked police barracks and a Block Development Officer’s office. Police sources said the mob also ransacked a locality where mostly Hindus live, but there was no retaliation and so no clashes and no loss of lives. Again, there was no condemnation from the IHC or any other tolerant activists for such unlawful attacks, mob violence and looting of public and private properties. However, the IHC had been quick enough to pass the following resolutions and incited the Muslims, as in Malda, the Muslim population has been sizeable[12] and all such acts to start within a week of the winding up of the 76th session at the Goud Banga University on December 30th 2015.

Malda IHC conference, communal fire and blaspheme riots – were they incidental, coincidental or ancillary (1)?

Azam Khan

Malda, IHC and resolution passed on Ayodhya-stones: The speeches of Azam Khan in November 2015 and the resolutions passed by IHC in December 2015 have been the ignition for the Muslims to run riot. “The collection of stones at Ayodhya raises the suspicion of another breach of law.  The Indian History Congress urges the Central and State governments to ensure that religious sentiments are not incited to play with monuments and break the law with impunity,” noted the IHC[1]. It is ironical that the eminent historians, who were indicted by the Allahabad High court for giving false evidences on historical and archaeological facts pertaining to Ayodhya have audacity to talk about law, breaking law etc. At the IHC session itself, many Malda Muslims attended to observe the proceedings of the Conference and they were very happy to note that the dominant coterie of IHC has been favouring for the cause of Muslims. Many papers read there have been in support of the Muslim-cause in many aspects. Of course, the AMU group conducted separate session, as usual, to kindle fire.

Ayodhya stones IHC resolution

Unblushing historians plan riot again in 2015: During the 76th session of the IHC held at the University of Gour Banga in Malda from December 27 to December 29, the Congress passed resolutions on the need to prevent the formulation of uniform syllabi across all universities, protect monuments, and stop the utilisation of monuments destroyed illegally (such as the Babri Masjid) for political gains. The IHC was established in Poona in 1935 at its first session under the name Modern History Congress, which was altered to its present name in 1938 at its second session at Allahabad. It was consciously organised as a forum for Indian historians and has held its annual sessions regularly since 1938. It has regularly considered issues of historical and national interest, and passed resolutions. In 1975 and 1976 it was the only Indian academic organisation that criticised the imposition of the Emergency in its resolutions. Since 1984 the IHC began to raise its voice against the threat to monuments, posed by the agitation against the Babri Masjid and agitations, both from different groups, demanding the Right of Worship in different monuments. It condemned the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992, and its present resolution is consistent with the standpoint it has consistently taken as the main body of India’s professional historians[2].

Eminent historians, IHC, resoltion

Flexibility needed for History Syllabi in Universities: The Indian History Congress is deeply concerned by the decision of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to introduce a uniform syllabus across universities in the country. Such a measure does not do justice to the differentiated nature of universities in different parts of the country. They adversely affect all of them by not allowing them to make use of their natural potential. Conceding a latitude of 20 to 30% will not address this problem. The work of regulatory bodies such as UGC should normally be to monitor the implementation of minimum standards and the basic principles enshrined in the constitution. Creating a homogenous syllabus from the whole country goes beyond this mandate and will strike at the roots of the autonomy of universities. Imposing a syllabus necessarily created by those who are unaware of the ground realities of particular universities will be tantamount to downgrading universities to the level of primary schools, defeating the purpose of higher education, and denying universities a chance to develop the resources available to each.

Eminent historians, IHC, resoltion mughal tombs to be protected

Resolution 2Protecting Monuments: The Indian History Congress has been constantly drawing the attention of the Archaeological Survey and other authorities towards the deteriorating condition of several monuments in the country, and their poor present state of preservation and lack of proper repair. At its 75th session (2014) at JNU, Delhi, it cautioned all concerned against the kind of restoration work by the Aga Khan Trust, which has gravely imperiled the status of Humayun’s Tomb — a world-heritage site. There are reports in the press of a crematorium affecting the Taj Mahal, and a fly-over dominating Akbar’s tomb, Sikandra. There are fears that Ajanta frescoes are getting affected. It is necessary to develop and enforce a rigorous system of protection and preservation on the strict established principles, so as to save our great national heritage.

IHC resoltion, ram-mandir, stones

Resolution 3No permission must be given to utilise the illegal destruction of monuments such as Babri Masjid for political gains: The Indian History Congress had strongly urged at its sessions from 1984 onwards that the Babri Masjid was entitled to protection both as a medieval monument, built in 1528, and as an important example of Sharqi architecture. However, it was allowed to be destroyed in 1992, an act which provoked national condemnation. That destruction was planned to enable the ground to be cleared to build a modern temple. Now the collection of stones at Ayodhya raises the suspicion of another breach of law. The Indian History Congress urges the central and state governments to ensure that religious sentiments are not incited to play with monuments and break the law with impunity.

Destruction_of_the_Temple_of_Baalshamin

IHC, ISIL and destruction of historical monuments: However, they are not worried about the artefacts, archaeological and historical evidences are being destroyed in Afghanistan, Syria and other places by Taliban, ISIL etc. It is not that they are not not connected with India and Indian history. Not only now, many Muslim boys and girls with all their engineering and other professional degrees have been sneaking to Syria and ready fight for ISIL and of course against India also. The Taliban, ISIL and all other jihadi groups have already declared that they would invade India and establish an Islamic State there or annexe it to Global Islami State to be formed. Then, what would happen to the historical monuments, toms etc., in India, about which the eminent historians have been so worried to pass resultions!

UGB_Main_Building

Malda-IHC manipulated to suit the Islamic fundamentalism: The IHC has been systematically promoting absurd papers submitted by some crackpot-writers like “Ayodhya was in Afghanistan” and so on. Though, majority believers of India and the members of IHC have been Hindus, the IHC coterie never bothers about Hindus, but promote only Islamic fundamentalism. If any one goes through proceedings volumes, she / he can find out easily as to how they have been biased against Hindus. As IHC has been a registered society and most of the members have been Hindus, the selected coterie cannot manipulate the proceedings in this way.  the As most of the right-wing and other neutral historians stopped attending the IHC, because of the manipulative, authoritarian and fascistic attitude of these so-called eminent, elite and emeritus historians, it has been working unquestioned by anybody. Of course, for them, there is no provision in MRTP ACT[3] to impose restrictions or conditions to contain their fascist monopoly activities. Recently, lakhs of rupees were pumped to accommodate and feed lavishly the delegates and hence, none even think of such things happening in IHC. The delegates were describing as to how many sweets were provided and so on at the Malda session!

RSS parivar IHC

Eminent historians, RSS and calling names: Azam Khan called RSSwalas homosexuals and one Hindu activist called Mohammedans also homosexuals and perhaps their leader also. So also IHC used to call RSS in different names. It is just like “tu-tu-me-me” [you scold, I scold; you abuse, I also abuse], as they used to tell in hindi.  However, why the eminent historians have been so allergetic, nervous and afraid of RSS is not known. From Romila Thapar to Irfan Habib, they are so worried about RSS and they take every opportunity to call RSS with names. Just one month back to IHC-Malda, when Intellectuals, scholars, academics, authors, scientists and artists gathered in New Deelhi here on Novemver 1, 2015 and called upon President Pranab Mukherjee to advise the government to ensure the freedom of life, faith and expression, in his speech, historian Irfan Habib said[4], “………There is not much difference between Islamic State (IS) and the RSS as far as intellect goes.” However, he could not condemn any of the Malda anti-national groups viz., Ittehad-e-Millat, Idara-e-Shariya and other leftist gangs involved in opium cultivation, drug manufacturing, arms-smuggling, fake-currency circulation and other illegal activities reported in the media openly. Jyoti Punwani notes[5] that “It’s the RSS for whom India’s senior most historian is an object of hate” under the caption “A history lecture under the shadow of thugs”. Ever since, they were indicted in the Allahabad High Court judgment, they became uncomfortable, as the English knowing readers have realized their double-game of supporting fundamentalist, radical and terrorist Muslims under the guise of promoting Marxist historiography and secularism with scientific temper and so on. Thus, to hide their motive, they try to attack RSS for their folly. Thus, now, they mention about Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti also in their writings and speeches.
