Sri Krishna blasphemed by the rabid anti-Hindu atheist Veeramani, Stalin’s dubious stand in the politics and elections following his father! [2]

Stalin anti-hindu, Indian Express

Stalin, as usual gave a statement in either way: Answering a question on Veeramani’s outburst against Lord Krishna, which went vital, Stalin, said, “It was not made during our campaign[1]. He chose to do it at a Dravidar Kazhagam event.” It is funny to note his illogical justification, because, can any crime committed in one place is a cfrime, but not so, when commited at some other place? Dravidar Kazhagam complex at Vepery might be a private property with all facilities of having meetings, rallies etc., wt a vast ground and auditorium, but, government has every right to take action, if any law of the land is violated in that place. However, Stalin maintained that Veeramani did not speak with an intention to malign Lord Krishna[2]. “He gave some examples. Some media and RSS have twisted it for false election propaganda. It is not true, but if it is true then it is wrong,” Stalin said[3]. Again, this is also typical escapism and trying to shrug responsibility. He called it a conspiracy[4].

Veeramani blasphemy, RSS planned

Stalin put forward a conspiracy hypothesis: How, he himself has been coming out with such proposition and hypothesis and, all his cadre would follow the suit. With their media support, they aggressively propagate such stuff also. He further said his wife Durga visits temples twice a day and offers prayers regularly[5]. “I never objected to her going to places of worship.” So what, is that a reason that the males could do all sorts of nonsence, as has been done for the last 70 years. He recalled that the DMK founder, C N Annadurai had categorically said the policy of the party was ‘Ondre Kulam, Oruvane Devan’ (One God, one community). Stalin recalled that even his father and late DMK president M Karunanidhi had said in the film Parasakthi, that they were not against temples but only oppose temples becoming dens of hooligans[6]. Though, they have been repeating this dialogue, now, there are no takers, as the recent statue theft, smuggling and related frauds have fully exposed their activities.

Veeramani blasphemy, RSS planned-News Today

BJP has not been mature enough to stick to ideology in Tamilnadu context: The BJP and its alliance partners in Tamil Nadu are claiming consolidation of Hindu votes in their favour owing to the “anti-Hindu” speeches of leaders of the opposition DMK and DK, but the DMK rules out this issue impacting its poll prospects[7]. “People are now saying the AIADMK-led alliance believes in God while the DMK-led alliance is atheist and anti-Hindu. Nowadays there is no distinction between Aryan gods (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) and Dravidian deities (Murugan, Amman and others). In Tamil Nadu, people now go to all temples,” Bharatiya Janata Party’s state OBC Morcha chief S.K. Kharventhan told IANS[8].According to him, there may be four-five percent vote shift in favour of the AIADMK- led alliance owing to such “anti-Hindu comments” of the rival alliance. Elangovan dismissed the claims. “The party rallies and the meetings addressed by our candidates attract huge crowds, which itself shows the support for our alliance.” “May be some fence sitters may vote for AIADMK over this issue. But that number will be very negligible,” he added.

veeramani remarks - news today

BJP has to go long way in Tamilnadu polity: In Tamilnadu, there is no BJP vote bank as such, as the Dravidian polity has been dominating for the last 70 years. Any Dravidian party has to invoke EVR, Anna, MGR, Jayalalita, Karunandhi…. etc., depending upon their front-affiliation. The BJP has been new entrant without any Dravidian ideology and political maturity, in the sense, it could not get into Dravidian political mosaic. It would be an anathema to invoke the Dravidian leaders, yet, they have started doing. As Modi proposed, the Central Station has been immediately changed to MGR Central Station. For the Dravidian parties, Atal Bihari was the right man in the wrong party, but, as fr as Modi is concerned, he is hated like anything.

Karuanidhi abused Hindu as thief; questioned Rama, in which college he took engineering degree to build bridge and so on!

Karuanidhi abused Hindu as thief; questioned Rama, in which college he took engineering degree to build bridge and so on!

From EVR times to 2019: EVR declared that, “There is no god, there is no god, and there is no god at all. He who invented god is a fool, He who propagates god is a scoundrel, He who worships god is a barbarian,” but, for him and as well as his followers, the “god,” has been invariably, the Hindu God. The Christians already opposed and the Mohammedans never bothered, as they knew, EVR had no guts to criticize their god. Thus, his most of the atheistic tracks have been against Hindus only. About one hundred tracts, pamphlets and small books disparage, denigrate and blaspheme Hindu religion, Hindu Gods, Hindu scriptures, Hindu festivals, Hindu ceremonies and so on. EVR has been known for breaking Vinayaka idol and his followers garlanding chappals and beating with chappals of Rama picture. Even burning of Rama picture was carried on last year also.

Karunandhi had been dexterous to exploit every occasion to attack Hindu religion etc., in his own way!

Karunandhi had been dexterous to exploit every occasion to attack Hindu religion etc., in his own way!

Annadurai’s ambivalent position of belief in god: Though, C. N. Annadurai reportedly told, “I would neither break the Ganesha idol nor the coconut (the offering),”that does not catch water.  What he asserted was that negative, instead of telling doing any positive action. He also reportedly claimed that, “There is only one caste and one Devan,” here, he did not use the word “God”! Generally, the expression “Devan” is used to denote “Jesus Christ” in Tamil.

Atheists exploiting Krishna etc

Karunanidhi’s tenure as an atheist and anti-Hindu: Karunanidhi’s anti-Hindu uttering has deeper roots going back to the Anti-Superstition Conference at Salem, the steel city convened by none other than Periyar during early 70’s which saw an effigy of Lord Ram taken out in procession and was beaten by sandals[9]. The effigy was finally publicly burnt. It catapulted DMK to power with 184 seats out of 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election and 17 seats out 32 Lok Sabha seats in the General Elections in 1971.  Karunanidhi had stated while addressing a public meeting in 2002 organized by minority outfits to protest the anti-conversion ordinance of the then Jayalalithaa Government, “Do Hindus have a religion? Who is a Hindu? If you ask some right thinking people they’ll say that Hindu actually means a thief. I do not consider that to be a despicable thief, but a thief who has stolen the hearts”. The reference even embarrassed some minority leaders sharing the dais, pointed out media reports from Chennai then. However, Karunanidhi clarified that he had merely quoted from a Hindi Encyclopedia published from Varanasi. “It had defined a Hindu as cruel, servant and bandit. Nevertheless, I chose to ignore that definition and softened it to mean as thieves of hearts,” he said. There is nothing surprising in the statement made by Karunanidhi. Karunanidhi has not only been carrying the political mantle of DMK founder C N Annadurai but also steered the party to power in the state for five times during 1969-1971, 1971-1976, 1989-1991, 1996-2001 and 2006-2011.

TTD met Kru for Ramanujar Jan.2016

DMK has been anti-Hindu only: In fact the Dravidian Movement has always espoused rhetoric of anti-Sanskrit, anti-Hindi and anti-North as these were associated with Brahmin community. The Dravidian movement and later DMK saw southern Brahmins and Northern Indian as Aryans. At one point of time Dravidian Movement had advocated seceding from India as well.  Often DMK supremo Karunanidhi evokes the anti-Hindu sentiments thus reflecting the core ideology of E V Ramasamy, popularly known as Periyar. In light of Sethusamundram controversy a few years back Karunanidhi had challenged that Lord Ram is not a historical persona but a figment of human imagination. Therefore, the iconoclastic activities of the atheist gangs cannot be taken as reformist, as they used to claim, but, consistently, have been against Hindus only. Even the greeting believers on the occasion of festivals and celebrations have also been selective i.e, they greet only Mohammedans and Christians and not Hindus. Contrary, they abuse and ridicule Hindus on the occasion of their festivals. This has been also carried on consistently by Karunanidhi and followed by Kanimozhi and Stalin.

Is Sabarimala for  the devotees or for dirty women like Rehana Fathima Pyarijaan Sulaiman and journo trekkers, atheists etc? [2]

Who were these two tried to enter Sabarimala-1

Suhashini Raj with an American walked briskly towards the route to temple

Suhashini Raj with an American walked briskly towards the route to temple………

Who were these two tried to enter Sabarimala-2

Two persons intervened and asked, but, she showed some document told that they were tourists and proceeded…..

Who were these two tried to enter Sabarimala-3

However, when they were found on the hill-path, the devotees asked them and police also surrounded and asked them to leave….

Suhashini Raj, not a devotee, but, a journo: In the case of Suhashini Raj, NDTV reported[1], “On Day 2 [18-10-2018, Thursday] of the Sabarimala temple opening, Suhasini Raj, a Delhi-based New York Times reporter who said she was not a devotee, began to trek uphill who got past Pamba base camp had to abort just before the lag leg of the trek to the shrine after protesters formed a human wall before her. According to the reporter[2], “the protesters had thrown stones, forcing the two journalists to return” but, it was false and the NDTV has no along with her colleague”, adding, “Suhasini Raj, who is a Delhi-based journalist, along with her colleague, a foreign national, managed to go past the Pamba gateway but was stopped midway by angry Sabarimala devotees”. Here, NDTV suppressed the fact that her college isa foreigner. The two journalists guts to tell the truth that she went there by telling lies. In fact, one person has videographed her trek that exposes her intent. Since the Sabarimala temple opening, at least 12 women have attempted the 20-km trek to the hilltop shrine starting at the Nilakkal base camp, but none of these women were successful.

Rehna Fatima, nude

Rehana Fathima Pyarijaan Sulaiman[3]: Rehana was brought up in an orthodox Muslim family and attended a madarassa[4]. “I used to wear the hijab and do namaz five times a day,” she says. Things changed after her father died when she was in Class 12[5]. She is known for her angst over a male professor’s comments on the students’ breasts[6]. The professor compared them to watermelons and further advised girls to cover themselves since they attract men.  In protest to this, Rehana Fathima, a 31-year-old BSNL government employee, she posed nude with watermelons[7]. The model and activist from Kochi received massive backlash for the same[8]. However, she explained that this was needed because she wanted “to question the restrictions regarding a woman baring her body”, as per a report in The Times of India. She was also a part of several other movements of dissent. Fathima was the first woman to participate in the traditional Onam tiger dance in 2016, Thrissur Pulikali, that is traditionally done by all-male troupes. She has also been a part of the Kiss of Love campaign against moral policing in 2014, as per TOI. Fathima had earlier posted a picture of her wearing the ‘mala’ on Facebook with a single word caption: “Philosophy”. After Fathima tried to enter the Sabarimala temple today, her house in Kochi was vandalised soon after but two unidentified people. Rehana now lives with her filmmaker partner Manoj, their two daughters and his parents. Manoj has produced the art film, and her debut movie, Eka about intersex people.

Can these equal to Iyappa baktas

Kavitha Jakkal – online journo[9]: Kavitha Jakkal, a reporter from Hyderabad working with Mojo TV Telugu as a nes-presenter-cum-reporter, was one who was accompanying Fathima as the police escorted them to the gates of Lord Ayyappa’s shrine. She also wore a bulletproof jacket as they walked from Pamba to Sannidhanam. She had earlier said that she won’t return before the darshan. However, the two women were forced to return afterward as their security was threatened by an agitating crowd of devotees.  The CEO of Mojo TV, Revathi Pogadadanda, took to Twitter soon after the incident and said that her team of journalists including Kavitha, Balakrishna and Narasing were going on an indefinite hunger strike.  “They r fighting for their right. They are fighting for what the #SupremeCourt said. Don’t take this country back to medieval ages! Let the law live,” she wrote[10]. In a statement to the media, Kavitha said[11]: “I am a journalist, doing my duty. By religion, I am a Hindu. I am here to cover the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment. I have been arrested and forcibly taken to the airport. I can see the SC judgment was not implemented due to pressure. I condemn the way I was restricted. A journalist not being able to discharge her duty is nothing, but a weakness of the system. I thank the Kerala government and police for giving immense support to us. We could not complete the journey since anti-social elements have put children and the elderly in the line of fire. Given a chance, I will return to Sabarimala to offer prayers and I will come back to do my duty too.” In Hyderabad, several rightwing activists stormed the MOJO TV office in Banjara Hills and raised slogans against Kavitha[12].

Kavitha Jakkal, TV-journalist

Mary Sweety- Catholic woman [13]: Another woman, Mary Sweety, tried to enter the temple but was forced to return soon after. Mary Sweety told reporters that “her body was full of divine power motivating her to climb”, as per a report in The News Minute. A 46-year-old woman from Kerala’s Kazhakkottam, she said she wanted to witness the deity at least once. However, she had to return midway after she was stopped by a group of protesting devotees.  “I don’t know about them (journalist Kavitha Jakkal & woman activist Rehana Fatima). If women have returned, it is your drawback. I want to go there,” she said[14]. Kavitha Jakkal and Rehana Fathima were just metres away from the entry of the temple before they were stopped by protesting devotees and priests. Devotees outside Lord Ayyappa’s shrine have blocked the entry gates while the head priest Kandarau Rajeevaru has decided to lock the temple and hand over the keys in view of the protests.

Mary Sweety, Catholic activist

The dubious women were given protection, but, the devotees made to suffer: On Friday [10-10-2018], three women – an online journo Kavitha Jakkal from Hyderabad, activist Rehana Fathima from Kochi and Mary Sweety from Thiruvananthapuram – reached Pamba to trek to Sannidhanam. Though a special police team led by Inspector General S Sreejith escorted both Rehana Fathima and Kavitha to Sannidhanam, the women were asked to return to Pamba after a group of devotees blocked their entry at Nadapandhal at Sannidhanam chanting Swami Saranam. When Mary Sweety reached Pamba and decided to trek to Sannidhanam, police dissuaded her explaining about the volatile situation and safely escorted her back to Pathanamthitta. It was intriguing to note that how these media women with such shady back ground were given uniform, protection etc., when the devotees were disturbed. Moreover, how the two women followed the “Mandala vratam,” who initiated etc. were also not known. Therefore, how ridiculous it was that they police to accompany them! Indian Express went on to argue, “While the state police are legally bound to give protection to women coming to Sabarimala for darshan following the Supreme Court verdict, they are now giving top priority to the law and order situation at Sabarimala.

The Three- mohammedan and christians created problem witth police

Police to verify the background of the women, who want to enter the temple[15]: With Devaswom Minister Kadakkampilly Surendran on Friday [10-10-2018] making it clear that no forceful action will be taken to evict the protesting devotees at Sannidhanam, things have become much clear that the police won’t use force on the devotees blocking the entry of women to Sabarimala”. But the fact is, the police not  only lathi-charged, but also damaged many vehicles marked by the side. The Minister also made it affirmative that they won’t allow anyone to make use of the situation to hurt the sentiments of the devotees and convert Sabarimala into a war zone. He was referring to Rehana Fathima, a known activist, who made an attempt to enter Sabarimala. Senior police officers said they have been directed to verify the background of the women devotees who are reaching Pamba to proceed to Sannidhanam during this volatile situation. “Intelligence wing will be tracking the developments as there will be people with vested interests to make use of this vulnerable situation and flare up things for communal violence,” a top police officer said[16]. So why it was done for the three or four women is intriguing.

Vairamuthu’s research on Andal, the “quoted quote research methodology,” and the confession of “eminent historians”!

January 20, 2018

Vairamuthu’s research on Andal, the “quoted quote research methodology,” and the confession of “eminent historians”!

Andal, Vairamuthu controversy

The controversy started with Vairamuthu on Andal (07-1-2018): What Vairamuthu wrote about Andal as appeared in “Dinamani” in Tamil, and its translation is given as follows[1]: “As Andal was not born to Periyazhwar, there were no details available about her birth, though, she was brought up by a Brahmin, as the society that was controlled with caste stratification might not accept her into such caste hierarchy, Andal herself had already attained the freedom of word with force and there was a practice of offering women to temple accepted by the then society, some researchers have been compelled to arrive at stunning conclusions. The book ‘Indian Movement: some aspects of dissent, protest and reform’ edited by Subash Chandra Malik of Indiana University, USA contains such reference as follows: Andal was herself a devadasi who lived and died in the Srirangam Temple. The devotees might not accept this, but, those who oppose patriarchy and socio-religious (code) might think about it.” This created the controversy that is still raging in Tamilnadu and some parts of Andhra and Karnataka. Ironically, now, Dinamani has removed the controversial or rather blasphemous article and their regrets are appearing there[2].

Vairamuthu, Vaidhyanathan, dinamani

Verification of the book referred to by Vairamuthu: Now, let us analyze the “quote” of the learned poet and writer of Vairamuthu. As he has given the reference, now, as a “researcher”, anyone can go to the source and verify.

India movements, S C Malik edited book

Thus, let us see the book under reference. M. G. S. Narayanan and Veluthat Kesavan published a paper, “The Bhakti Movement in South India” in “Indian Movements: Some Aspects of Dissent Protest and Reform,” edited and introduced by S. C. Malik and published by Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla in 1978. In which, what they claimed was,

Cheraman Perumal Nayanar notes the reception given to Shiva by devadasis of all ages while he went out in procession around the streets in Kailas35, and Andal herself is a Devadasi who lived and died in the Sri Rangam Temple36.

Quotations of MGS

The two footnotes given for support for those two lines are as follows:

  1. Ceraman Perumal Nayanar, Adiyula, M. Raghava Aiyangar, ed. Caruventar Ceyyukovai, 1951, Trivandrum, Vol.II, pp.136-64.
  1. T. A. Gopinatha Rao, The History of Sri Vaishnavas, Madras, 1923, Madras, p. 5.

MGS, Kesavan , tthe book

So when we look at page no.5 of the said book, what, T. A. Gopinatha Rao recorded is this, “When she reached marriageable age, she refused to marry anyone except the God Ranganatha of the Srirangam temple. The God appeared to the Alvar in a dream to declare before him his acceptance of the girl in marriage and ordered her to be brought to his residence at Srirangam. Periyalvar took her there with great eclat and left her in her Lord’s house and returned to his quiet residence at Srivilliputtur.

Quotations of MGS- TAG Rao reference

Therefore, there is nothing like what the learned historians M. G. S. Narayanan and Veluthat Kesavan reportedly claimed, “Andal herself is a Devadasi who lived and died in the Sri Rangam Temple.” Why then, the leaned “historians” wrote in that way and what was their motive?

Quotations of MGS- TAGopinatha Rao reference,p.5

M. G. S. Narayanan clarified to Dinathanthi that there was no such reference to Devadasi[3]: When Asoka Vardhini contacted M. G. S. Narayanan through phone, he accepted that there was no specific reference to Andal as devadasi and he mentioned it based on inference only. He also accepted that Veluthat Kesavan was a student of him, doing M.A history (implying that he might not have been having research expertise at that time). There is no inscriptional evidence to that effect and it was written only based on “oral tradition.” When she asked specifically, he specifically confessed that there is no primary evidence and even secondary evidence to that effect, it was a controversial interpretation and a “matter of inference”. Then, naturally, it is intriguing and shocking to know as to know how they could have written conclusively, “Andal was herself a devadasi who lived and died in the Srirangam Temple.” Now, he is considered as one of reputed and eminent historians of India, former chairman of ICHR and so on. Why them, they stooped to such “quoted quote” research methodology, amounting faking and forging such lies and falsehood in historiography?

Vairamuthu regrets for Andal comments

The implications of “quoted quote research,” bogey of “eminent historians” and other modern-day mythistories: Now let us analyze their quotations, reportedly lifted from two books mentioned above.

  1. The book in question was published by Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla in 1978 and not by Indiana University, USA as claimed by Vairamuthu.
  1. Vairamuthu should have verified the sources before quoting, that too, part of a sentence picking up from their paper. He must have consulted the original sources (as he knows Tamil very well) and also other secondary sources after 1978 to present his speech and “researched” article appeared.
  1. Ironically, he and the press, still carry such wrong and falsified blabbering[4]. “As part of my research for writing this article on Aandaal, I happened to read a collection of articles edited by Subhash Chandra Malik in the name of “Indian Movements: Some Aspects of Dissent, Protest and Reform”, the original from Indiana University and published by Indian Institute of Advanced Study in 1978. It is very much an Indian research study by Indian historians,”thus claimed Vairamuthu.[5]
  1. Vairamuthu added, “Professor M.G.S Narayanan & Professor Kesavan Veiuthat. Professor M. G. S Narayanan is considered as “one of India’s top authorities on ancient history” and has served as the chairman of Indian Council of Historical Research. Professor Kesavan Veluthat is the Professor of History in University of Delhi. The line mentioned in my article was from a reputed publication and by reputed historians.” But, M. G. S. Narayanan now refuted. Here, Vairamuthu mentioned, “G.S Narayanan is considered as “one of India’s top authorities on ancient history,” whereas, the subject dealt with has not been so ancient!
  1. Cheraman Perumal Nayanar notes the reception given to Shiva by devadasis of all ages while he went out in procession around the streets in Kailas35.” M. G. S. Narayanan himself accepted that the story of Cheraman Perumal was a myth floated after 13th century by the vested Mohammedan groups. Therefore, the question of devadasis of all sorts going out in procession is redundant, immaterial and incompetent.
  1. Andal herself is a Devadasi who lived and died in the Sri Rangam Temple36.” This is also fake, fraudulent and deceptive, as T.A. Gopinatha Rao never mentioned such sentence in his book, as pointed out above.
  1. It is unbecoming for these researchers, now, paraded as “historians” to quote that was not there in a book, secondary source.
  1. It exposes the dubious and dangerous nature of “quoted quote” research methodology, as most of the researchers, may not look into the quotes recorded by the “eminent historians.”
  1. Coming to ideology, it is evident that the involved personalities have been Marxists and atheists and thus, their speeches and writings have been tarnished with bias, prejudice and without objectivity.
  1. As the Marxist ideology is coupled with Dravidian ideology of atheism, that is directed against Hindu religion, evidently, Hindus have come to streets. How they have been oppressed, suppressed and attacked by them since 1960s have been too well-known to be repeated here.

The World Atheist Conference 2018 conducted on January 5th to 7th 2018 at Trichy (1)

WAC-3, Viduthalai front page

The World Atheist Conference 2018 conducted with tall claims: The World Atheist Conference 2018 (hereinafter mentioned as WAC) was conducted with tall claims made on January 5th to 7th 2016 at Trichy. It was commenced here with an emphasis on setting right in equalities in the society, quelling superstitions, and propagating rationalistic thinking. Titled ‘Atheism – Hope of Humanity’ and what not, the three-day program organised jointly by the Dravidar Kazhagam, Atheist Centre, Vijayawada and The Rationalists’ Forum witnessed delegates representing rationalist organisations in different parts of India and other countries, taking part in the inaugural and plenary sessions, and presenting their views on an array of topics that included atheism, religious fundamentalism, and medicine and atheism[1]. Presiding over, K. Veeramani, president, Dravidar Kazhagam, said atheism in India means much beyond non-belief in supernatural and religious rituals, and that the prime focus was on rectifying untouchability in the society perpetuated in the name of religion, and denial of education on the basis of birth[2].

WAC, Trichy - foreign delegates, Nadaswaram

Features of the Conference (as claimed by the organizers): As claimed by the organizers, Atheist – Humanists around the world participate in the conference, besides the leaders of various atheist, rationalist and humanist organizations from all the States of the country, Paper presentations by atheist scholars and activists followed by deep deliberations on the different perspectives of atheist philosophy, form the major part of the conference proceedings, Sharing of religion-free living culture in various countries / societies and churning up the substance on living free from the fear of god, enabling humanity to progress and peace, Revealing the success, in establishing the egalitarian society free from the belief of non existing ‘god’ through the services of organizations and movements by atheist philosophers and Documenting the pioneering role rendered by atheist movements in the East during the early historical period.

Garry McLelland-WAC, Trichy

The Rationalists’ Forum: The Rationalists’ Forum claims that it, “is a Humanist Movement founded by Periyar in 1971 and presently patronised by Dr. K. Veeramani, President, Dravidar Kazhagam. It is a unique movement, because of the composition of membership and the activities. People who are committed to Periyar ideology and employed in various organisations – government, public private co-operative have shouldered the responsibility of preaching and practicing rationalistic ideals”. The activities include organising meetings, seminars, science exhibition, superstition exposure show to develop scientific temper and humanism among the public. Many State and Central Ministers, Vice Chancellors of Universities, educationalists, officials who are at helm of affairs to-day were the earlier functionaries of The Rationalists’ Forum.

The Organizers of the Atheist Conference[3]: The organizers have been:

  1. Dravidar Kazhagam (Tamil Nadu), Atheist Centre (Vijayawada) and
  2. The Rationalists’ Forum (Tamil Nadu) jointly organise World Atheist Conference 2018.

WAC is the ideological confluence of atheist, rationalist and humanist fraternity from the countries – England, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United States etc. and from all the States of India. WAC proceedings cover seminar and sittings with lecture delivery and paper presentation on the various dimensions of atheism , rationalism and humanism. Film show, video presentations, science exhibition, book fair are planned. A massive public procession with demonstrations exposing superstition is scheduled. A Souvenir containing essays, real stories, personal experiences of eminent persons on atheism and allied ideologies gets released on the occasion. Many leaders and persons of eminence from State and Central Governments, educationalists intellectuals participate in the proceedings.

WAC, Trichy - stage-1

Were foreign delegates conscious of the Dravidian atheism?: The foreign delegates attended the conference, but, what they spoke was not revealed by the organizers, the media and the participants:

  1. Gary McLelland[4], Chief Executive, International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), London[5], and
  2. Avinash Patil, Executive President, Maharashtra Andhrashraddha Nirmoolan Samithi, Pune, Maharashtra, were the other guest speakers.
  3. Elizabeth O’ Cassey[6], Director of Advocasy – IHEU, Brussels, Belgium, inaugurated an exhibition of books at the Atheist Book Centre. Rustam Singh, Atheist Alliance International, USA;
  4. Suba Veerapandian, General Secretary, Dravidian Tamil Federation; and
  5. Rajaratnam, Pro-Chancellor, Periyar Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University), Vallam, Thanjavur also spoke.

Five books were released on the occasion: ‘Bhagavad Gita – Myth or Mirage,’ and ‘March of Atheism’ authored by Veeramani, Compilation of ‘Old Testament of Indian Atheism’ by Surendra Anjat, ‘Essays on Matters which Matter’ (A Rationalist’s Perception) by S. Rajaratnam, and Compilation of ‘Revolt’ published by Periyar in 1928 and 1929. It is evident that Compilation of ‘Old Testament of Indian Atheism’ by Surendra Anjat, and conspicuously, there was no book released about the position of atheism in Islam or existence of “Islamic atheists”. As happened in 2011, this year also, most of the foreign delegates came and attended did not know about DK, EVR, Dravidian atheism etc., as they talk about Humanism, human rights, etc.

WAC-3, women delegates from north

Inaugural session: During the inagural session, A. Raja, Sp. Suba Veerapandian, Gary McLelland, Elezabet O’Cassey, Avinash Patil and others spoke and thereafter, papers were presented. Ironically, A. Raja, former Union Minister of Telecommunication (who was in jail for 2G scam, came out on bail and acquitted by the Court recently), said he has been deriving inner strength from atheism. Ironically, the DK-ideologists talked as usual rhetoric with verbose without any new points. As usual, they made “stage-type” talk in Tamil and using few words and sentences in English to show off that it was an international conference. Ironically, the delegates came from Pujab, Maharastra, Andhrapradesh and Kartataka were talking in their mother tongue and Hindi when they conversed with each other. The same thing happened during the All India Atheist Conference held  at Periyar Tidal in May 2010, where, one invitee spoke in Hindi and it was translated by the DK ideologist. Now also, K. Veeramani during his speech accepted that the language bearer exists among the delegates coming from those states. Incidentally, their anti-Hindi stand gets exposed here, as with Tamil alone or any particular regional language alone, they cannot do anything.

“Glimpses of Srimad Bhagavatam” – National seminar held at Vijayawada on October 14th and 15th, 2017.

October 16, 2017

“Glimpses of Srimad Bhagavatam” – National seminar held at Vijayawada on October 14th and 15th, 2017.

Location of Hyndavi, Vijayawada

“Glimpses of Srimad Bhagavatam” – National seminar held at Vijayawada: Bharatiya Itihasa Sankalana Samiti[1](hereinafter mentioned as BISS), Andhra Pradesh conducted two National Seminars on Ramayanam – Historicity and Maha Bharatam – Historicity in 2013 and 2015 in Ongole and Rajamundhry respectively.  In 2017, the BISS conducted a national seminar at Vijayawada on October 14th and 15th on “Glimpses of Srimad Bhagavatam”. Now that “Historicity” was dropped might be noted. The venue was “Haindavi” Bhavan, Street besides Lotus Land Mark[2], Ramalingeswara Peta, Vijayawada-3. Actually, it is in Sector-5, and the location is known as “near Ice Factory”. Hyndavi building, Vijayawada - photo Rajesh PadmarOutstation delegates had some difficulty to reach the venue. Incidentally, the multi-storied building was built, completed and inaugurated last year[3]. Sri Siddheswarananda Bharati Swamy of Sri Siddheswari Peetham (Tamil Nadu) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) All India Organising Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale inaugurated the RSS’s regional office ‘Hyndavi’ at Ayodhya Nagar here on August 5th, 2016 (Thursday)[4]. RSS office inaugrated 05-08-2016 Vijayawada

The seminar hall has been equipped with Power point and other provisions. The organizers had made good arrangements – food, accommodation etc., for the delegates. Sri Koti Lakshmana Rao, secretary, BISS has been instrumental in bringing different researchers, scholars and others together.

Theme of the Seminar: Research Papers were received from scholars, Research Students and people who were interested in History of ancient India / Bharat and its culture, tradition, heritage and civilization. The organizers expressed in their circular specifically that the Samiti desired that the main focus of the presentations in the seminar should be on historical, geographical, political, social, and cultural as well as Dharmic and ethical perspectives. They suggested the following topics in the context:

1.       Viswa srushti

2.      Propositions on Dharma

3.      Astronomical perspectives

4.      Geographical references

5.      Rivers, Mountains, Forests

6.      Piligrimages

7.      Life style of forest dwellers, common people & kings (rulers)

8.     Status & significance of Women.

9.      Systems of Education

10.  Customs & Rituals

11.   Sculpture, Architecture & Fine Arts

12.  Kings, kingdoms, Royal dynasties,

13.  State craft & politics, Systems of State And Governance

14.  Sages, establishments and their influence

15.   Upakhyanas and their influence etc.,

16.  Other related topic also may be considered.

Bhagawata seminar banner on the gate

About 40 papers were presented on the topics suggested, but overlapping. Most of the papers delved upon the devotional, descriptive, narrative, legendary aspects and discourses of Bhagawatham. Perhaps, only one paper delved upon the historical perspective, which touched upon the “Archaeological Evidences for the existence of “Historical Krishna”. In the present-day context, as ideology has been working at the Universities, schools and all other academic institutions and forums, it could be answered and countered only by ideology and not by devotional discourses. Of course, it is required and may be mandatory also at earlier stages of curriculum, hitherto followed as “Moral period / class” provided till 1970s. The “Moral period” was removed and of course, the degradation of sacademics could be noted thereafter in different aspects.

Bhagawata seminar - breafast

Critical edition of Bhagawatam has to be brought out: Critical editions of Ramayana and Mahabharat have been prepared and published by the Baroda Oriental Rearch Institute and Bhandarkar Oriental Rearch Institute respectively[5]. Similarly, critical edition of Bhagawatapurana should be published, so that researchers, scholars and students could conduct their research in the historical perspective. Approaching Bhagawatam in Sanskrit and other regional languages show how the work had been so popular and common among the common people for 2000 years. Though, the narrative, legendary and mythical details vary, the core of the subject matter remains intact and specific. The study / process of manuscripts to determine the original or most authoritative form of a text, especially of a piece of literature and thus arriving at an acceptable version and publication of it is known as “critical edition”. In Literary criticism it is stressing close reading and detailed analysis of a particular text. In such determination of determining the original or most authoritative form of a text, all the available manuscripts are subjected to study. Notably, in “India”(pre-colonial, pre-Mohammedan) thousands and millions of manuscripts had been available, as they were nothing but just like present-day printed books. In spite of the taking away, looting and burning libraries of temples, mutts and Universities, still millions of manuscript are available in thousands of archives, libraries – prove the fact. Perhaps, no other literature of any nation, language or society has been existing in this manner. Therefore, the variance found in Indian literature has been unique, interpolations incidental (other than internal nature of Jains, Buddhists etc) and differences inadvertent. Thus, a critical edition can be prepared.

Demythologization in Indian context: In Indian historiographical context, much of “demythologization” is also required. Demythologization as a hermeneutic approach to religious texts seeks to separate cosmological and historic claims from philosophical, ethical and theological teachings. Rudolf Bultmann (1884-1976) introduced the term demythologization (in German: Entmythologisierung) in this context[6]. It is to provide an explanation of something, or to present something, in a way that removes any mystery surrounding it. Here, actually, history has been mythologized to reach all and common people with easy understanding. The following have been generally noted as feature of mythologization of different aspects and subjects of humanity:

  1. Deification of personalities raising them to Godhead and God.
  2. Attributing miracles, grand feats, great exploitation, controlling nature etc.
  3. Recording Natural disasters (floods, volcanic eruptions, earth-quakes, submergence of land mass and other land disturbances) in their own fashion of divine scourge, punishment of God and so on.
  4. Good would always prevail over Bad, evil, injustice etc.
  5. “Cakravarti-kshetra” i.e, a king ruling vast area with unlimited or traditional boundaries (Himalsyas in the north, Kanyakumari / ocean in the south, Eastern Ocean in the east and the western ocean in the west)[7].
  6. Concept of dwelling land, continent changing from island (Jambudwipam, Navalanthivu) to the above boundaries.
  7. Movement of asterisms, planets etc., and their attribution to great personalities and gods.
  8. Synchronization of rites, festivals and celebrations with days, weeks, 15-days, 30-days, year and so on (Lunar calendar).
  9. Attribution of cyclic periods, growth of plants and trees, flowers and fruits top a particular god or Goddess.
  10. Existence of personalities for many years – 100, 1,000 etc., denoting existence of such ashrams, mutt etc.

Methodology adopted and adapted by the Puranic writers – a way of historiography: They are nothing but Puranas and they were updated during the course of time many times. The updating is nothing but adding details upto the date of updating, thus, if one Purana was uptated in 1500 CE, it would contain details upto 1500 CE from the beginning. Revising, renewing and modernizing Puranas was considered as imortant in those days. All the above topics would havealso been updated depending upon the acumen of the updating experts. However, reading such revised editions of Puranas (in manuscript forms), the wesern researchers and European colonial history writers presumed that such and such Purana was written in 1500 CE instead of 300 BCE, 500 BCE or even 1000 BCE. The Jaina[8] and Buddhists[9] had resorted to update in their own fashion by including their affairs and thus, they could bee seen in the manuscripts of Ramayana and Mahabharat also. But, no historian would accept that the dates of Jainism and Buddhism could go back to those periods. Though, the date of Ramayana has been entangled with “Yuga” calculations, the date of Mahabharat has been fixed to c.3102 BCE[10].

July 28, 2017

Dr B.R. Ambedkar International Conference 2017 – Quest for Equity  – Reclaiming Social Justice, Revisiting Ambedkar (3)

K Raju and Bhalachandra Mungekar

The second day [22-07-2017] proceedings: The security was tight as before and the delegates / speakers had pass through separate entrance. The first plenary session was chaired by K. Raju and there were three speakers – Lord Bhiku Parekh, S. K. Thorat and Samuel Myers between 9.30 to 11.00 am at the main auditorium.

Parik speaking 22-07-2017

What Lord Bhiku spoke: Parekh Like how Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, was just not a Baniya, the mercantile caste into which he was born, B.R. Ambedkar was not just a Dalit, but a national leader and a nationalist, noted political scholar Bhikhu Parekh has said. “Like Mahatma Gandhi was not just a Baniya, Rabindranath Tagore was not just a Bengali, Dr. Ambedkar was not just a spokesperson of Dalits. He was an Indian and a nationalist,” said Parekh, while delivering a lecture on the second day of the three-day international conference on B.R. Ambedkar, sponsored by the Congress-ruled Karnataka government here on Saturday [22-07-2017][1]. Recently BJP president Amit Shah’s statement calling Mahatma Gandhi a “Chatur Baniya” drew flak from scholars across the country. Parekh, an acclaimed author of several books on politics and political theory, said that by calling Ambedkar a Dalit leader and a spokesperson, we were reducing the significance of his contribution to the nation[2].

How India became “Republic”, though Nehru opposed: “We have to revisit Ambedkar to reclaim justice” to the marginalised sections of society, he added. Noting that Ambedkar fought for social and economic democracy, he took on Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhai Patel to ensure social and economic justice to the downtrodden and marginalised sections of society. The father of the Indian Constitution fought for inclusion of the word “Republic” in the preamble of the Constitution. For Ambedkar, democracy confined only to political rights, while the “Republic” guaranteed political, economic, and social rights. He recollected about the condition of India soon after Independence. He said that at the time of framing the Constitution, Jawaharlal Nehru did not include the word ‘Republic’ in the first draft[3]. When asked, Nehru said that the word ‘Democracy had included Republic’. In the second draft, Republic was included while the word Democracy was not[4].

Ambedkar and Jewish people

What Ambedkar told about Jews: Dr Ambedkar was interviewed by Glora Becher, Council of Israel in Bombay. His views were published in “Praja bandhu” and then, included in his complete works[5]. “I believe that just as there was a land of promise for the Jews, so the Depressed Classes must be destined to have their land of promise. I trust that just as the Jews reached their land of promise, so will be the Depressed Classes in the end reach their land of promise.”….“I see in the present day condition of the Depressed Classes of India a parallel to the Jews in their captivity in Egypt. In Moses I see a leader whose infinite love for his people has given undaunted courage to face hardships and bear calumny.”…………“I confess that if any thing sustains me in my efforts to emancipate the Depressed Classes, it is the story of Moses undertaking the thankless but noble task of leading Jews out of their captivity.”……..It is only natural that the Jewish people have always looked at Dr. Ambedkar and his life’s work with absolute admiration. His struggle for the weakest sector of society has found an echo in the hearts of those who for many hundreds of years since their expulsion from their “Promised land”—Israel—were suffering from discrimination and persecution just becasue of being different from the majority around. We in Israel are till today proud of Dr. Ambedkar’s support in our struggle for rebuilding our national home in Israel. (Courtesy : News from Israel)[6].”

S K Thorat speaks

Separate settlements for SCs and they should migrate there – S. K. Thorat: Former UGC chairman and present ICSSR chairman S.K. Thorat noted that a large number of Dalit graduates remained unemployed owing to withdrawal of the State following liberal economic policies. He said privatisation of public sector enterprises and contracting out services to the private in the public and government sectors led to the erosion of reservation of jobs to the Scheduled Castes. Reservation had “eroded from the backdoor” by contracting out services. Unemployment was 13 to 14% among Dalits, he said. Under the guise of Liberalization-Privatization-Globalization, reservation is denied to SCs. Therefore, the reservation policy should be like that of Ireland. Though, the Untouchability Act was amended in 1950, 1985 and 2010, the violations are not booked, action taken and punished. To overcome such discrimination, separate settlements should be provided to them and they should migrate to such places.

Samuel Myers speaks

Samuel Myers’s comparison of the Dalits and the blacks: Samuel Myers tried to compare the discrimination acting against the Dallits and the blacks under market and non-market factors. The market factors are identified as  like earnings, employment, housing, education, opportunities, credit, lending and access to wealth. The non-market factors are – sexual assault, victims of hate crimes, …. Some of the audience questioned such comparison, as the controlling factors of the two groups have been totally different, operating at various levels.

Prof G Hargopal

Afternoon plenary session: The afternoon session 2 to 3.30 pm was chaired by the Social scientist G. Haragopal, professor at the National Law School of India University, and the speakers were –

  1. Dalit intellectual Anand Teltumbde[7].
  2. Bronislaw Czarnocha[8]
  3. Marxist economist Prof. Prabhat Patnaik
  4. Hargopal said 2019 would be a critical point in the country’s history, with the Constitution of India “at stake”[9]. “The Congress should look at the growing inequalities in income; it is a matter of concern. India’s richest 1% holds about 58% of the country’s wealth and this phenomenon has only increased under the Modi regime. The Congress should start talking about minimizing inequalities in income as wealth should sub-serve the common good.” Haragopal pointed out how the BJP government has become the favourite of global capitalists[10]. He said the spread of fascism was turning out to be a threat to the Indian Constitution. “The country will reach a critical point in 2019 (when parliamentary polls are scheduled) and we have to be cautious. The minorities are suffering from insecurity and the Congress has a responsibility to protect the Constitution.”

Ambedkar activist - Anand Teltumbde

Anand Teltumbde observed: What he noted…………that the country was living in “de facto fascism” and de jure fascism was just two or three years away. while wealth in the hands of the country’s richest 1% had grown from 53% to 58% after Modi took over and this development is a pointer to the fact that Dalits are at the receiving end. “The ruling classes have been fooling all and there is massive inequality in the country. The VVIP syndrome keeps mocking at the common man and social activists have no space as they are imprisoned or attacked. The concepts of equality, liberty and fraternity have remained mere rhetoric and the poor continue to suffer.” Teltumbde said the Congress has to transform itself with the focus on Ambedkar and fight the Hindutva juggernaut to stop de jure fascism from becoming a reality in the country.

Prof Prabhat Patnaik

Prabhat Patnaik – says openly in 2019 Modi should be defeated: Responding to a statement by former MP Balchandra Mungekar that progressive forces needed to unite with the Congress in 2019, Prabhat Patnaik said[11]: “We are ready to align with the Congress if the Congress also reforms itself.” “With neo-liberalism reaching a dead-end under the Modi regime, a counter-revolution is staring at us. A new vision of India is required and it is important to think of giving economic rights to the people along with political rights.” Patnaik outlined the economic rights as[12]: right to food, right to employment, right to free healthcare, right to quality education and right to free pension for elderly and the disabled. The total cost for providing these rights will be not more than 10% of the Gross Domestic Product, he said, adding: “Through this, we can carry forward the notion of development as envisioned by Ambedkar.”

The tragedy of the Rohith Vermula in 2016 and the results of American elections the same year motivated him to undertake full process of exploration and formulation of the principle of Bisociative revolution.

Dr B.R. Ambedkar International Conference 2017 – Quest for Equity  – Reclaiming Social Justice, Revisiting Ambedkar (2)

July 28, 2017

Dr B.R. Ambedkar International Conference 2017 – Quest for Equity  – Reclaiming Social Justice, Revisiting Ambedkar (2)

Prakash Amedkar speaking at conference

Prakasah Ambedkar’s speech: Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of Dr Ambedkar took on the current dispensation at the Centre, saying that it was needed to reclaim Ambedkar because some ground on the social justice front had been lost over the past three years (obviously referring to the coming of power of NDA / BJP in 2014). He pointed out that untouchability exists in two forms – visible and invisible. “Dr Ambedkar had warned that every revolution will have a counter revolution, and we are seeing that counter revolution take shape,” Ambedkar said. There is a need to rethink the concept of social justice, Ambedkar said, “because the very idea implies a giver and receiver of social justice, thereby cementing two classes.” If the societal values are not balanced, he pointed out that counter-revolution is going to happen. The concept of untouchability comes from religion, puja and connected issues. The “caste based priest system” should be abolished. The system of “giving justice” and “giving justice” is also not correct. Human values have to be built within society. Obtaining political sovereignty and economic sovereignty is important for the SCs. His speech has been important, balanced and pointed to the issue of “Quest for equity – Reclaiming social justice, revisiting Ambedkar.”

Rahul attacks Modi - he is naked

Rahul Gandhi’s direct attack on Modi and RSS: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said on Friday [21-07-2017] that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were rewriting history to silence the voice of Indians, and in specific, that of the oppressed classes. At the inauguration of the three-day global seminar on ‘Reclaiming Social Justice, Revisiting Ambedkar‘ hosted by the Karnataka government to mark the 126th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar, Rahul recalled Adolf Hitler[1]: “There was a man called Hitler and he once wrote – keep a very firm grasp on reality so you can strangle it at any time. Today this is what is happening all around us. This strangulation of reality,” Gandhi said, as he targeted Modi and the RSS[2]. He said India lost its Independence because when Britishers stepped on its soil millions and millions of people kept quiet and allowed the British to do exactly what they pleased because they were powerful. “And that is exactly what is happening today – when the journalist doesn’t write about the violence in front of her eyes, when the judge is pressurized into giving a judgment. “India’s freedom was not simply taken away by the British. It was handed over to them by some Indians… we lost our voice because we surrendered it. “And this is exactly what Modi and RSS want. They want India to surrender its voice.” ………….”Do not forget that every single Indian will be robbed of their voice, every single Indian will be robbed of his future. We must firstly keep the firm grip on reality. We must never ever allow them to strangle it,” he said.

“The emperor is completely naked but nobody around him has the courage to tell him”: Rahul continued his tirade against Modi: “There is a new global epidemic wherein leaders are trying to strangle reality, inspired by Hitler’s way of thinking. Modi wants to create a perfect history of India and thereby silence the oppression against sections of people who have suffered due to age-old practices and discrimination.” …….. “What is happening today is the systematic capture of India’s democratic institutions by the PM, bureaucrats and RSS,” Gandhi said[3]. “The emperor is completely naked but nobody around him has the courage to tell him,” Gandhi said, while adding that there was a ‘strangulation of reality’ by the government. Gandhi inferred on Rohit Vemula and Mohammed Akhlaq, whose deaths have become a rallying point to highlight the growing number of atrocities in the country[4]. “They say Rohit Vemula committed suicide. I call it murder. He was murdered by the indignities he suffered. He was killed because he was a Dalit.. The instrument of his murder was the letter written to his university by the Government of India. A letter that destroyed his future forever ,” he said. Vemula killed himself on the Hyderabad Central University campus after being removed from the hostel, while Akhlaq was lynched by a mob in September 2015 after villagers in Bisada (Dadri district) in Uttar Pradesh accused him of stealing a calf. Also referring to the lynching of Mohammed Akhlaq at Dadri, he said he was “butchered” because they said he stole a calf, which was a lie. Instead of questioning his brutal killing, they asked whether the meat in the fridge was mutton or beef, he said. He said thousands of farmers commit suicide and the government looks the other way. But the government can forgive any amount of corporate debt, calling it corporate write-offs, but farmers were given nothing, he said.

Rahul addressing 21-07-2017

Rahul claims that Vemula was murdered[5]: Lashing out at Modi on demonetization, he said thousands of businesses were wiped out and “hundreds of people simply died”. “Privately our friends in the press called it insanity but publicly they called it the stroke of genius,” he added. From plastic surgery to nuclear weapons, which Modi had invoked as being ancient Indian practices of mythological gods, Rahul said the present dispensation is trying to gloss over the realities of the nation. “There have been good and bad sides to India, and we need to accept it and change it. The Modi government is trying to wipe out history and create a perfect India, thereby strangling the reality of Vemulas and Akhlaqs,” he added. He said the BJP and RSS want to destroy Ambedkar’s Constitution with such silencing of voices and not care about the people it protects. Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the media while speaking about demonetization and hinted that journalists were against Narendra Modi’s policies. “When demonetization happened, the media in private spoke of it as ‘insanity’ by PM Narendra Modi, but in public, termed it a ‘stroke of genius’,” he said.

Stars in Five-stars for mega govt event on equality

Ambedkar Conference delegates were treated at “Taj West End” Hotel: The VIPs and speakers were taken to “Taj West End” Hotel and given extravagant food, drinks and hospitality. Ironically, 60% of the speakers were drinking and enjoying the girl who was dancing tirelessly going round and round. When they had come to talk about the rights of oppressed and suppressed etc., they were enjoying how the girl was forced to dance like that in front of hundreds of “Ambedkar delegates”. Can it be called as “Five-star oppression and suppression,” though, the girl was dancing for money and not for promoting any artistic value and so on. When the ordinary speakers were given this Five-star treatment, what was provided to Rahul Gandhi, Siddharamaiah, the Congress MP. Marti Luther King – III, and host of other VVVIPs and human right activists, would be much more than this extravaganza.

How and what “Bangalore Mirror” reported about the Five-star treatment of Ambedkar-delegates: The best and brightest minds descended on Bengaluru for three days starting Friday – July 21st 2017, for the 125th (126th ) anniversary celebrations of Dr BR Ambedkar. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was there to preside over after inaugurating at GKVK campus. The star attraction of the conference was the Human Rights advocate Martin Luther King III who along with several other scholars from US, UK and African countries spoke on human values in the current world. Several folk artists from Latin America and Africa were also invited to perform during the international event. The Karnataka government spent over Rs 20 crore for the event and hosting the delegates. Sources said over 80 luxury rooms were booked at Taj West End alone. On Thursday night [20-07-2017], there was a gala dinner at the Grand Ballroom where Martin Luther King-III was welcomed.  The three-day conference titled ‘Quest for Equity’ was held at Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra (GKVK) campus in Bengaluru, organized by the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Karnataka.

“What is wrong in that? Can’t Dalits stay in five-stars?[6]: Chairman of SC unit of AICC K Raju is one of the key oragnisers and a high-level committee including PWD minister HC Mahadevappa, IT-BT minister Priyank Kharge were working as convenors under CM Siddaramaiah for the event. Prof C Japhet of Bengaluru Central University was appointed as the key convenor to coordinate with all the events. “In the last three years since Narendra Modi government took over, attacks against Dalits have increased. They are killed in the name of cows, humiliated and harrassed. The event will see academic discussions on the issue,” KC Venugopal, Karnataka state in-charge, told Bangalore Mirror. When asked if the government had been a bit extravagant with the taxpayers’ money – given that rooms in five-star hotels had been booked in bulk, he shot back: “What is wrong in that? Can’t Dalits stay in five-stars? This is an international event so the arrangements will be such.” Social Welfare Department minister H Anajaneya said[7]: “The event was announced by the CM in his budget speech of 2016-17 and we have set aside Rs 15-20 crore for the event. This is entirely a government programme and not a political function. Rahul Gandhi will come for the inauguration in the morning and leave for New Delhi the same evening.” Thus, the 20th night extravaganza was extended to 21st night also, at the Taj West End for the Ambedkar delegates. So, the “Quest for equality” was achieved and the thirst quenched for all, without any discrimination.
